Hi all, I know a lot of people post in this forum about copyright issues, so I thought I would share a success story. This morning, I found a Typepad blog that had ripped off one of my recent posts 100% and was outranking the original. I emailed the DMCA/copyright contact at Typepad and had a response in less than two hours.
Dear Mr. Rosenberg-
Thanks for the report. The blog in question has been removed due to violations of Typepad's terms of service related to copyright and spamming.
Sincerely,
Jen

Nice job! How did you find the post? Google Alerts?

That's great to know that we can take an active stand against this sort of thing! I think I am sometimes too lax in just shrugging it off and not doing anything about it.

Wow that is impressive! I'll have to check Google alerts, or if you have other tools you use I'd love to know. As my blog is quite young this is something I haven't looked into but surely can become a concern.

Congrats! I literally just discovered a similar issue yesterday and have submitted a copyright removal through Google's DCMA form. Hopefully it doesn't take them too long to look into it.

I found it while using Google to find an old post. Remember, filling out the DMCA with Google only removes it from the search engine. You have to go through the offender's host/provider to get a site taken down completely.

Though if you get the provider to take down the blog, that would definitely kill two birds with one stone :)
