I used to submit to all of these, but I no longer due to a lack of time. I want to get back into doing this (actually, I may have my VA do this for me), because one of the benefits is a do-follow link from sites with decent pageranks – if you get "published".

Reddit and Stumble Upon are the only ones of these types of sites that brought traffic to my site. I never had anyone come from Digg or Tip'd or PFBuzz, or any of the others out there.

Thanx everyone!  I appreciate all your feedback… agreed twitter and facebook are the king. My plugin has additional room for reddit, digg, and stumble upon so I was just curious – never used the latter 3 myself. Sounds like Reddit still has some juice.

Daisy, I agree – I have no idea either Wink

Glenn, I'm only talking about 4 or 5 buttons (not those overbloated plugins with 30 options LOL).

Modest Money, I'm talking about like buttons at the end of posts.

Cheers and thanx!

I used to get a fair amount of traffic from Tip'd, but I don't usually from most places. I'm not big into social media (sacrilege I know) and most of those places (Digg, Reddit) will kick you into oblivion if you post just for pr.

I used Digg back starting in 2008, but then a major site change caused most of the users to abandon Digg.  Most of them went to Reddit.  I don't follow Reddit like I used to follow Digg.

I just signed up for Reddit and was looking for advice in the forums. I figure that it couldn't hurt. I see now that I can't just add all my articles like I was planning but I submitted one and might add old posts on days I don't have new articles up or anything. I might try Stumble Upon if this Reddit experiment works out well.

Someone submitted my post from today to Reddit and Digg.  So far I got 182 hits from Reddit and 2 from Digg… Not a great bounce rate or time on site, but pretty good traffic.

Incidentally, the 182 is with only 11 votes (7 up and 4 down…booo!) and one comment.  My guess is the traffic would be pretty great with many more votes or comments.  The buddy who submitted the post got 3500 hits from a post of his that got 100 or so votes and 20 comments.

I've never had anyone submit any posts to any of them. I don't really even know how they work.

Same, I've used stumble upon often enough to browse..but never to submit anything!

I have experienced traffic from reddit, digg and SU.. keep the buttons there and let people submit to the aggregators, even if 1% convert you are a winner.

All these have Alexa less than 1000 they have too enormous following to ignore.

I have only had a few from Stumble Upon and never one from reddit. I'm actually pretty clueless about what reddit is, but now I'm gonna go dive in. Thanks for asking that question, I was wondering the same thing myself. Awesome answers from the rest of the gang as usual

We have gotten very little from Digg or StumbleUpon.. but I still submit our best stuff there for the backlinks..

Reddit on the other hand.. can be a beast.  We had one post go front-page on Reddit and send thousands of folks to our blog. It was about a month ago, and we still get 10-20 users per day who find the link on Reddit and come over. But be careful with your reddit submissions, they will "lock" your account if you submit too many articles in too short a period of time.
