Does anyone use offline blogging software like Windows Live Writer?
Why and what are your thoughts on it?

I've tried it out, but I found that writing in Word and formatting in Wordpress was better for my needs

That's what I've started doing, after getting 'logged out' of Wordpress a couple of times while writing a post, and losing some or all of what I'd written. The Word approach seems to be just fine.

I haven't heard of it before either. But then again, I've never had any problems with wordpress. Might be worth looking into, but maybe more for traveling (with limited internet).

I just start mine in Open Office and then cut and paste – I do all the formatting in WP, not in Open Office.

I write and organize everything in Microsoft OneNote, copy to Word for formatting, and paste to Wordpress with minimal formatting needed.
OneNote is truly the BEST way to organize your posts! (not a MS affiliate, I just love the product)

Why do you start with OneNote and then transfer to Word? Why not just use Word from the beginning? What are the benefits of OneNote (I've never used it before).

I transfer because there are some formatting issues when copy/pasting from OneNote to Wordpress for some reason, but not from OneNote to Word, and then Word to Wordpress.
OneNote is a digital notebook, organized with tabs and pages. Makes looking at all your posts MUCH easier.
Here's a quick screenshot of mine:

That looks very impressive! I love how you can organize everything so easily. I think I will give OneNote a try (since it's free).
