When I was working in this morning's post, I knew there was another point I wanted to make but I couldn't think of what it was. I gave up and hit publish., half way to work, I remembered!

Trying to decide if I should add the section when I get home tonight or just leave it as-is.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Yep, all the time! I always find typos and grammar problems when I re-read my posts. It would bug me too much if I didn't fix it ;)

If I had a whole new section to add, I might just make a new post. I often make small changes after I post.

Yup! Typos, additional info/links I forgot. Sometime I write into the wee hours of the night, and my brain falls asleep before hitting the "Publish" button. :)

I make minor edits for grammar and spelling, but I don't recall ever adding in a point or anything at the sentence/idea-level.  I don't really see anything wrong with it, though, if you don't mind that some readers will have missed out on it..

I sometimes edit for minor changes, but would make a whole post to make an additional point. I think it is worth editing anyway because this is additional content SEO readers can come look for, even though RSS readers won't see it.

I have fixed typos and added links before, but I wasn't sure if it would be such a hot idea to add entirely new content. I do like Eric's idea, however to write an entirely new post based off the "missing" content. Added to today's post, it probably would have been two or three paragraphs, but I can see coming up with at least 500 words and that's if I don't think of any other spin-off points.

Not for content, Edward – this is usually there. But I always, always, leave couple of typos in – this get corrected as caught. John is the same. I do edit several times before I publish – have noticed that the more versions I have of something the better the text (works for my other writing as well). The most worked on posts are not necessarily the most read :) – this is something I'll never understand.

I do when I have time. My English is getting better each year (or so I think), so I do go back and re-read some posts and edit. But most of the time I don't. I barely have time to write new stuff. :)

Great question! Yes, I do sometimes edit posts after I've published them. Occasionally readers will make good points (and sometimes, corrections) in comments that I even go back and add to the text. When I do this, I always note it in the comments.

I think most of us do. If you don't then go back and re read, there'll be always scope for improving your write-up.

When I go back and check out old posts, I'm amazed at how many grammar and spelling mistakes I find!  I definitely would not make a very good copy editor :)

I always edit my posts after the fact. I'm kind of obsessive about things like that, so it can be a post that's a few years old!

I've heard that the Google search engine algorithms will often rank posts lower which have poor spelling or bad grammar, so you never know, if you correct an old post, it could move up the next time that Google re-indexes.  I'd say it's worth the time if you have the time to spare.

Oh yeah, I edit posts too from time to time. Sometimes I just want to "ship" something right now and then tidy it up a bit later.

From time to time on other blogs I've noticed that someone has updated their post with new information (perhaps regarding an offer that they wrote about a year ago and it is no longer valid, but  a new offer now exists) and they'll keep the old info, somehow strike through the text, and then add the new info.

Does anyone know how to do the texts strike through?

Thanks!

Rich
