Here is a post about Blog World Expo that talks about business cards. The same info here applies to #FINCON11.

I just skimmed and bookmarked this post. Good food for thought. Thanks for posting it.

These tips are fantastic! Thank you – definitely works for #FINCON11. (Is everyone else ridiculously excited about conference and annoying the non-PF-blogging spouse? Just me?)

My husband asked if he's "ever like that about reffing or curling…"  I just don't know what he means…like what?  ;-)

My husband is like this about his business. I know all the gossip about his clients, what's going on with which house, etc. If he'd read my blog, we could go both ways in our discussions, which would be nice. :)

Thanks for sharing the post. I've given out probably 500 cards at conferences during the past year.  I'm still getting follow-up from cards left with brands at BlogHer last August.

I picked my cards from Vistaprint, paid extra for a few things like better card stock and a cute add-on product, and ordered them.  Then, I went to close the Vistaprint page and must have accidentally hit something, because all of the sudden, my "Paid" total was $13 more and I had another 500 cards in the order.  So, 1000 business cards when I think I'll barely need 250 and there is NO ONE picking up their customer service line during customer service hours.  So I emailed them and was told by automated message it would 48 business hours before I'd hear back (Tuesday).

BUT, that isn't the best part.  The best part is that I was a complete idiot and included THE WRONG FACEBOOK ADDRESS.  I put my initial one that was a personal page instead of my fan page url.  Yep, I will probably end up with 1000 incorrect business cards.  I emailed Vistaprint again, explained the whole situation, and pretty much begged to get a cancelled order and store credit.  I guess I'll see by Tuesday whether I am going to eat $50 or not…well, not eat…if I get stuck with these, you all are going to be getting them at the Financial Blogger Conference, lol.  Laugh  I never really use Facebook much anyway and the personal page is set up the same anyway…at least the Twitter address will be right.

Anyway, no point to this story except be careful with closing Vistaprint (they're sneaky) and double-check everything a few hours after you've worked on it since my brain was mushy after going back and forth with myself for 3-4 hours on style, alignment, and all the other tiny things (yep, I wasted a while on this…).

I feel that missing this conference means missing the biggest potential boost to our blog Mrs. SPF and I could get.  We get a lot of people who are intrigued by a husband wife blogging combo and I think people would like to meet us and pick our brains.  That and some pretty good success creaming the Yakezie challenge from 21 mil to 200k in 8 weeks.

Also, our future staff writer, lil' SPF is due Oct 3rd.  We simply can't get to Chicago :(

Sustainable PF, we're going to miss you, but birthing your first baby is a little more important! Next year we'll see you.

VistaPrint drives me nuts.  No site should have that many steps to order–upsells galore!

I'm thinking that after passing up a summer vacation, FinCon11 might be the perfect substitute.  Guess I'll have to decide quickly; the $129 tickets and hotel deal look like they run out soon.  It'd be a great chance to meet everyone, and with so many people from a very condensed niche attending, I bet there will be monetization opportunities galore.  I'm 99% sold.

@The Saved Quarter, me too.  Thanks for the support!

@SPF, having a baby trumps blogging stuff, lol.  Enjoy meeting your new baby!!!

@JT, I was fine with the 6-12 pages of upsells, but that sneaky easy-to-accidentally-hit button with no are-you-sure message really did piss me off.  And yes, you should totally come to FinCon11!  I want to meet all the people I've gotten to know over the last year!

Good news!  Vistaprint responded today and cancelled my order.  I used my store credit to order cards with the correct Facebook address and hopefully all is well!  I actually ordered two different types since I wanted one with my black border logo with a glossy finish and another kind with my knotted-wood border with a matte finish so I could compare them. Your reaction to them will let me know which ones I should stick with from here on out.Laugh

Thank you all for your support, suggestions, and help!!!

I just ordered mine.  I won a free set of 250 from a recent giveaway at narrowbridge, so figured I could screw them up and not be out anything.  Here's what I got .

The Front:

BeatingBrokeCardfront

The Back:

BeatingBrokeCardback

I think they turned out rather well.  I wasn't sure whether to go matte or glossy, so went with matte for this set.  I'll have to decide whether I like that or not if I ever order more.

I put my mailing address on mine on the back. Is that uncommon for blogging cards? I did skip putting my phone number on.

I honestly hadn't thought of putting a mailing address on mine.  I did leave the phone off on purpose.  I figure, between email, twitter, and facebook, if you can't get in contact with me, you aren't trying. ;)

I didn't put my phone number on it.  If I want someone to have that, I'll give it to them directly.  Also didn't do a mailing address.

I had mine designed by the same person that did my blog for continuity of branding. I'd love your feedback:
