Some great tips, folks.
We are definitely going to try our first giveaway in March, and am looking forward to it.

Will we really get 100+ likes for something like a $25 Amazon Gift Certificate?

I have gained hundreds of facebook likes from joining big giveaways with mom bloggers and now am over 1,500. For $10-12 I get a lot of exposure. Measuring Flower has a blogger newsletter that publicizes the opportunities: http://www.measuringflower.com/bloggers/
That's a good resource, Kay Lynn! Thanks!

I am running my first giveaway right now. It has been going for about 2 weeks and I have gained 100 facebook followers. I hope that they will stick around after the giveaway has ended!
Here is my link so you can see what I did for entry options. Rafflecopter has been wonderfully easy so far!

Another way that I was really successful with a simple 2x $25 Amazon gift cards is to sponsor a giveaway on J. Money's new site, GiveawaysAreSexy.com. J took his incredible following on Budget Are Sexy and started a great giveaway site about a year ago. It has tons of readers that are really engagement that can really open you up to a new section of readers you may not have had access to previously. J is awesome to work with too if you never had before. He will help you craft the response you are looking for (more FB followers for example). Definitely worth it!

Mine sucks, too, even though I have 1,200 Twitter followers.
I've decided that I can't yet be everywhere with a new blog, Twitter, Facebook, G+, Pinterest, AHHH!!!! It's crazy.
So, for now I've focused on where I can shine: Twitter and the blog. I've decided a good Facebook page is a few months down the road.

I find adding a few "inspirational" photos has helped get more activity flowing and repeat visitors on my FB page. You need to find what works best for your audience. Videos, pictures etc. Shake it up a bit. I like to use my page to show a little more personality… not the usual humdrum financial stuff. Let's face it, it can get boring. I found that posting a few things in the morning and then later in the afternoon is ideal for "catching" my audience. I'm starting to get more 'likes' on my status updates and comments are becoming more frequent.
Try incorporating some fun things along with your financial teachings and you may start to get people more interested in YOU.
Laura Roeder was the best resource I found for creating a FB page… "Facebook Fame". You might just learn a lot from her site too!!

Just liked!
I've had tons of success with the giveaway model too (the prizes don't have to be huge either). I find that promoting the giveaway can take a tons of time, but it's well worth it. Make sure you get your giveaway listed in all of the sweeps directories and the blogger giveaway link-ups. (There are 100's of them)
There's a service at bloggiveawaydirectory.com/ that I often use to help out with this. For $25, she will add your sweep to a dozen sweep directories + 10/15 linkys daily for 30 days. I'm up to 3,700+ Facebook fans from doing this… :)
Good luck Jefferson!
Kyle
