I registered a few domain names for pretty cheap last year. Now they are up for renewal and the price is $35/year.
Obviously, I want to transfer but what is a good site that has reasonable renewal rates?

Did you check if you an use coupon codes to renew? That might help.

I really like Namecheap so far. Haven't seen their renewal rates yet as I've bought the domains for multiple years. Worth looking into IMO though.

I use Name.com – I really like their interface (very clean and easy to navigate) and there are always coupon codes available. Even without a coupon, the domains are usually $10 for a year.

I like GoDaddy.com, they always have specials and yearly rates with a coupon can be ~$8 or less. I used to use Yahoo, which at that price it sounds like that is who your with now. Ick.

I've used all three of the ones that everyone else has mentioned: GoDaddy, Name.com, and NameCheap. They are all pretty good. NameCheap has been my new favorite as of late. Each one has a renewal rate of about $10 or so per domain. Where are you registering your domains that charge you $35 to renew? I want to make sure I stay away from that place!

My current preference is Godaddy. Mostly because there's always a coupon available if you look.

I'm a big GoDaddy fan. If you catch their coupons at the right time, it can be really cheap to renew through them.

My vote is for Namecheap.
$35 is highway robbery.

Been very happy with GoDaddy, we hold all our domains there and pay a bit under $10 for renewals

Definitely look for discounts. Go to retailmenot.com and search. Also do a search (e.g. 'GoDaddy coupon codes') and look. There's new stuff all the time so sometimes you can just wait a couple of days or a week and something better will pop up.

Kay Lynn, Two other considerations:
1- Many hosting companies give you one free domain renewal per year with the hosting account. I know Bluehost does this for their cheapest plan.
2- Sometimes other extensions like .co are not offered by every registrar and they do in fact cost a bit more than .com (although $35 is definitely highway robbery).

If you're looking for godaddy discount codes, I don't go any further than this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com…..?t=2364673
They put a new one up for each year. I can usually find one within a few minutes that saves me quite a bit.

I'm about evenly split between godaddy and namecheap for registrars. I prefer namecheap for the interface, policies, free whois, and (usually) prices, but I'm occasionally forced to use GoDaddy. I've never had technical problems with either.

$35 is just ridiculous. I've used mostly Namecheap and Godaddy in the past but now I have everything with Namecheap. I prefer their interface and they're more responsive, plus Godaddy makes you go through 30 pages of ads and upsells which irritates me.

I use GoDaddy (http://narrowbridge.net/godaddy) and find a coupon code every time at RetailMeNot. Usually $7 per year.

There a lot of good with GoDaddy but some bad (so many annoying offers every time I renew domains)… but it's still the best solution for us for now
