Facebook has never driven much traffic to our site, until today. No, we didn't go viral but a post from Saturday got 50 hits via Facebook. Question:  Is there a way I can see where all these clicks/hit originated?

That's great exposure via facebook. I have looked at the various forms of stats that I have and it doesn't seem to have a specific url to show where the traffic is coming from when it comes from facebook. I would think that this would mean that you can't tell the exact source, but maybe someone else may know another way to determine the origin.

Figured it out – reader comment helped.  A company I linked to included the article on their page.  Interesting traffic and a first time for everything!

Great to hear. I was going to ask if it was someone that you featured… That is a great way to build traffic. :) Even though I am sure that wasn't your intention.  | | | |

Best I can tell, unless someone tells you where they came from, there is no way to tell where Facebook traffic comes from.  They redirect everything so all you get for a referral is the redirection link.   | | | |

Congrats SPF. Just goes to show you we should never close any doors. Thanks to FB, you got 50 more hits that you would have. I agree though, it sucks how you can track it.

Nope, never been able to figure out the origins of Facebook traffic. You have to do some serious sleuthing and you may never figure it out. You'd think there MUST be a way – but if there is, I haven't figured it out yet!
