Hi. I am noticing that some people have both a fan page and a FB account specific to their blog identity (I don't know what that's called).
What are the pros and cons of having two fb accounts for the same blog? I'm wondering if folks are transfering between the two or just setting up both?
If you have a main account for your blog, do you also keep a personal fb account as well. Just curious.
Thanks for any feedback.

I accidentally set up my site as a profile and then started the fan page recently. I think a fan page by iteself is probably the way to go if you are starting from scratch simply because I think having a profile may technically be against Facebook rules…

You want to set up a Fan page becasue:
1) You have more flexibility with it
2) It can go viral faster than profile with likes and showing on the wall of friends of fans
3) Profiles are limited to 5K friends and fan pages are unlimited
4) The FB apps are made to assist fan pages
5) It's more professional than making friends and spamming them your info. Leave the profile for friends.
6) Separates your personal life from your business or blog
Sure there are more, I just have to run and don't have time to think about it. but you need to set up a Fan page!

No, you can't Aloysa. I wish you could. I just deleted my group page and started a fan page from scratch.

Hey Aloysa,
Let me know when/if you setup a new page so I can link up from the Debt Free Divas. I think I have everyone else already.
Thanks Freddie for the details. You answered some other questions as well…saved me some research time. I appreciate it!
Cheers~

You can't do that, but here is something that you can do. Create your fan page and then send a suggestion via FB to all of the friends of your profile to come and like your FB page. If people connected with your profile because of your blog, then they should have no problem liking your fan page.
Another good thing about fan pages, is that you can tag other fan pages in your posts (you can't tag a fan page from a profile). So if you write a review about a company or product, you can tag them in your FB post and it will show up on their wall so that everyone who visits their page can see it.This would also work for roundups and tagging various bloggers' pages.

I have a personal FB profile, an Everyday Tips profile, and an Everyday Tips fan page.
I believe that you have to have a profile to have a fan page anyway, so just create the fan page like Khaleef suggested and you can send a notice to all your pals saying 'hey, come my fan page'.

Always go with the page, that is what they were designed for. I often click on the "fan" button, but I never add a profile as a friend unless it is a real person I know.

No problem, Debt Free Divas!
If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot them my way. In addition to my blog, I am a budding web designer and social media guy, so I have some insights in this area. The Yakezie family has some other great people that really know this information as well, so fire away!

i used to wonder about the same, and because of the ease of clicking the 'fan" button, i opted for this option. i am struggling however to get fans. i have a good amount of readers, and twitter is also spiking up, however facebook followers or fans are lagging. why? any good tips to catch up?

Did you try suggesting the link to all of your friends on your personal facebook account? That's how we started. Not that we have a massive amount. But use the Suggest to Friends link under the pages profile pic. Then I asked my good friends and close family to suggest the link to their friends. It seems to continue to spread from there.
I've seen other organizations post in their status a suggestion that the fans suggest the link to their friends. That seems reasonable too. A spread the love status :)
I would be interested to know what other tips people have.
