Hello my friends… Here's a quick update and then a couple very important questions that I'd love your feedback on please:
- 2 months since I began the Yakezie Challenge
- From 2.2 Million to 246,000 rating… pleased, but…
I've created a yakezie list… and visit each week and leave comments. But I've noticed in the past couple of weeks, my readers and commenters have dropped… but I'm not sure why. Posts remain consistent and the feedback has been "polite." So, do you have any ideas? Are people just too busy, not interested, or?
I'm establishing some goals for the remainder of the year:
- One giveaway
- An active Facebook Page (I'm just learning this social media element)
- A web redesign (almost ready to launch – probably by Nov. 1st)
Well… thanks… always appreciate your input!

If Alexa rank is your only concern then concentrate on Yakezie community only.
1. You are missing from fall teams, become part of it.
2. Post on forum regularly.
in order to improve upon other ranks of your blog, there are tons of good suggestions available in this forum.

Hi Doc! Using more social media will definitely help. And a giveaway is a great idea. I actually just completed my first one recently (still have to announce the winner) and think it was a success. Building a blog takes time. I was actually thinking about stopping by your blog again soon. Sorry, past few weeks have been really crazy for me and I had a lot less time to blog. I could be wrong, but in general, I think investing can be a niche market regarding readers…. I wonder what other people think. I've started to learn that it's important to keep writing content, which you are, and then slowly google starts picking up some strings on articles. I've noticed that a select few of my articles get a lot more attention than others. Have you noticed anything similar?

Thanks so much my friend… yes, I've noticed that Google is starting to pick up some articles. It seems the titles have to be "popular" in nature… so, I'll work toward being more "Google" friendly.
I wondered if the financial blogger's conference took a lot of attention away lately? I'm not sure…
I'm so thankful for this group… we read a lot about perseverance as a writer… so I was wondering about the sustainability of the reader! Just a twist.
Thanks,

Thanks… I looked at the fall teams, but didn't see the "entry point" – how do I join in?

Doc, I suggest you think outside of the Yakezie box. It's great to have Yakezie members come to your site, as it's good for traffic. But if you want regular moms and pops to visit your blog, you need to do some advertising. I suggest you try out facebook ads.

Thanks Tony… I was seriously thinking of some options such as that… and wondering what might be a good use of my limited dollars. I suppose, once I get some income, I'll be able to reinvest it… but in the meantime, I'm willing to invest a little for some results. I'll check that out… thanks.

I really think a small giveaway would help. If you can afford $25 it can go a long way. You can use it to build your social media followers, email subscribers, etc.

Are you using an SEO plugin such as All-in-One SEO? That makes a big difference as far as getting your posts noticed by Google.
Also, you might check out Google Webmaster tools to make sure there aren't any errors when their bots try to crawl your site. I had some serious errors going on a few months ago, and once I fixed them (through another plugin) my search traffic improved a little. Though I have to confess – only about 10% of my traffic comes from search.

It happens. My blog is skewed toward investing so I have experienced the same often.
I would actually recommend going outside of Yakezie as well and commenting on other investing type sites.
Investing topics and personal finance topics often appeal to the same audience but not usually on a regular basis.
Also, pay attention to those that come back often and build community with them.
I also find that Twitter is helpful for building repeat traffic.
Build RSS too.
I need to visit more often, I will bookmark and grab your feed.

As a blog with great content, I don't think you need to pay for advertising just make sure your SEO is on point.

Sign up for the teams the next time they open up. That will help give a turbo boost to your quest to drop Alexa. Also, a giveaway – even a small one – could help drive awareness of your site and some visitors/subscribers too.
Try those as tactics to get you to 200,000.
Longer term, I suggest being active in the Yakezie community, submitting to blog carnivals, and working on SEO.

Agreed. Things start slowly for most every site. We're not even a year old yet and we've managed to get about 450 RSS and 630 Twitter followers. The only giveaway i've done on our site was for tax software and it bombed. It is said repeatedly but good content is key.

I would suggest that you extend your blog network outside of Yakezie as LaTisha mentioned. I don't think you should do traditional advertising, but maybe focus on a couple of small giveaways.
Most of my traffic comes from search engines, so I'm not the best one to give advise on growing faithful readers. However, I can say that many searchers will take note of your site if they are intrigued by your content and design.

Hi Dr. Stock,
I visit your site every weekday since you are in my Fall group. I don't leave many comments though because most of your posts are about picking stocks. If I don't own the stock, I don't know much about it and won't have a lot to add.
last 5 post – dollar store, LULU, GMCR, APPL. There is one more post about trading strategy.
I'll try to comment more often, but I don't have much to add on these topic. sorry…

I'm using All-in-One SEO – but I can't say I know what I'm doing… I just do my best. Anyone have a post on how to target particular keywords, etc. using this?

Thanks… yes, I wondered if the "focus" is so focussed some just don't visit as often. Do you have other communities you have found helpful?
Thanks for going by… I appreciate your support.
