Hmmm.  Taking the train from Minneapolis to Chicago is $180 round trip with a AAA discount.   Cheaper than flying, easier than driving, and possibly cheaper than driving once parking is accounted for.

I am dying to go, but still trying to work out the airfare & hotel. It'll be a week after we come back from our family trip. Yikes! So many people I want to meet going…what to do, what to do…

I'm in for this one. I have friends who live in Wrigleyville so I won't need a hotel. Next time, however, you should do it in Dallas. It's a convenient, middle of the country location like Chicago, only with better weather and football :)

I wanna be a Thousandaire so freaking bad!

I second Dallas (I live in Houston, so yes, I am biased).  :-)

I'm still not sure. I would love to go and meet up with everyone, but the cost of airfare and hotel will be a lot – and of course my wife wants to go now! I vote for the next one to be in New Jersey Laugh.

I would love to go to this but it's the exact same weekend as another event that I've already committed to. I'm going to be super jealous of you all!

If you guys haven't seen it yet, I did an interview with Philip Taylor about the conference.  Take a look if you get a chance:

No offense, but I would prefer somewhere elseWink.  We have several from the West Coast going so meeting in the middle sounds like a good plan.

I think airfare will go down before then but can't guarantee it.  I used miles and got my ticket for $7.50.

I may be biased, but I vote for Cleveland.  Our sports teams all suck so there would be no worry about being distracted by sports!  :)

I am pretty happy Chicago was chosen for this year as it really is centralized and it is a city that is fun to visit, so I can combine it with a vacation and get the most bank for my buck.  I am really excited about this upcoming conference.

Great interview.  I'm glad Phil took the chance to organize it and am looking forward to meeting so many other PF bloggers at once.

I like Chicago – it's in driving distance for me!  Plus Chicago is always a fun town.

We're out.  Mrs. SPF is due on Oct 4th so the timing just doesn't work.  Additionally, flying out of Pearson Int'l in Toronto would be well over $600 each.  Driving would take 10-12 hours (if Mrs. SPF wasn't extremely pregnant) and with gas prices, food on the road and possibly lodging … well, would cost a lot.  So pregnancy is our main reason but the overall cost for two of us to fly, sleep, eat and drink is prohibitive.

Bummer… but given the timing I don't think you had much of a choice.  And I   think you are getting a pretty good trade-off, too!  By the way, have you thought about naming SPF Jr. "Yakezie" in our honor?  :)

You're already experiencing the sacrifices of parenting.Wink.  It's well worth it and hopefully we'll have a second one you can make.

Even though I'm in SF, I decided it's completely worth it to splurge to attend this conference. Having been a member of the personal finance community since 2007, I look forward to meeting many of the writers behind my favorite blogs!
