Hi all,

Reading all the wonderful recaps from the conference, I was wondering for those of you who gave and collected business cards, were they effective for you?  Why or why not?

I've had quite a few emails from my business cards… mostly from some of the people outside of normal definition of pf bloggers. Most other people just contact me directly anyways, no need for cards.

As Tom mentioned, I think the cards are effective for people you don't normally connect with such as brands, PR reps, etc.

I get 250 cards for less than $10 bucks at Vistaprint so it's well worth the expense.

If nothing else, a business card is a nice visual reminder of a person's name and where they are from (I suck at remembering names).

I have a nice little stack of cards on my desk that I need to go through.  I think business cards are still effective.

And how many of you got comments about those half-size Moo cards?  That's pretty effective marketing right there (though it would where off as more used that size).

I've had several people contact me all ready, and when I got home, I followed everyone through twitter whose card I was given.

I didn't have cards for the conference. I know, I know….you typically bring cards to a conference. But my reasoning was that my blog isn't a big business really at this point, and we're all online anyway – so aren't cards a bit old fashioned?

As it turns out, it truly didn't matter with other bloggers. I know I'm not going to be influenced by another blogger having card or not. I mean, I can just go online and find his/her site and can contact that way.

However, the cards might be of value for ad reps, media types, etc. In those cases, it can be helpful, as you're dealing with a person that might be just one of many working in that organization. It's still a part of business to some degree. At $10 for 250, as Kay Lynn noted above, it would be worth it.  So next time I'm at a conference, I'll have some business cards ready for the people I noted above.

I think they were definitely worth it for me. I've had a number of people contact me already, who probably would have simply forgot about me if they didn't have my card in their hands.

I plan to go through all the ones that I collected and add everyone to my contact list.

I've had a couple of people contact me. They may have contacted me even if I didn't give them a business card.  Since I printed my own cards using almost free card templates from Staples they were definitely worth the cost.

I think cards were definitely useful. I've been connecting with several people that I exchanged cards with, bloggers and others.

Although, I can see Squirrelers point. It would be useful to simply go down the list of attendees and contact them individially, directly through their site. Build the web!
