Firefox, IE, or Chrome: What's your preferred broswer and why

So, I work for a place that only supports IE, so I'm on it most of the day and do some reading during lunch, breaks, etc.. I've noticed a few blogs don't show up very well when using it, and I'm wondering if it's the browser, or if I should contact the blog and let them know about the issues…?

I've even had it so bad that a new blog post would show up in Firefox, but not in IE when visiting the landing page for a website! Bad stuff.

At home, I use firefox and haven't really run into these issues, but using wordpress seems EXTREMELY SLOW for some reason…

Anyway, I was wondering what YOUR preferred browser is and why? Are there advantages/disadvantages from a blogging perspective? Does one save you time over the other? Are there known bugs for reading and using wordpress/blogger sites?

Also I just love the cool dude smiley, so here you go: Cool

I first switched to Firefox back when version 1 was released. My brother had been using it all the way back in the beta days when it went by a different name. When Chrome first came out, I jumped ship because it was faster. I still use Chrome for some tasks, but I've largely switched back to Firefox. Why? It's kind of a tough answer. I just like the way it feels better.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I was a Firefox user for years, but it has gotten so bloated and slow that I can't stand using it. I do keep it around for testing the websites I design, but I get frustrated waiting for it to load. I finally switched to Chrome about 2 years ago – it was kind of a tough transition because it's so much cleaner and more minimal – I couldn't get used to it! (Kind of like what Edward said above about liking the way Firefox feels.) After a few weeks, I adjusted to Chrome and I can't see myself using anything else.

I won't even get started on the design headaches associated with IE, especially in its older versions. IE9 is a little better but not much. It's so infuriating to have ONE browser that refuses to cooperate.

Chrome – It's a lot faster and the other ones just seem a lot busier (even with all of my chrome addons).

Chrome FTW.

I personally am a google advocate through and through. Chrome is super smooth and fast and hasn't been around nearly as long as the other browsers.

I used firefox for years and year but wouldn't use anything else but Chrome.

I as well keep around firefox and safari for testing purposes.Yell

Depending on device; Safari on Macbook, Opera on my tablet and Firefox as preferred desktop/all purpose browser. Won't touch Chrome (yet), although I know many extremely computer-savvy people who prefer it.

I use all three depending on what I am doing, but if I had to pick just one, I would go with Chrome. It is simply faster and spell checks things for me.

I don't know anyone who uses IE anymore. School computers still have it.

I'm also a huge fan of Chrome for it's speed.  When it was first released, there were issues loading some sites.  Now days, I don't run into any problems using Chrome 100% of the time.

Wow, 2 more for Chrome. Totals:

Chrome: 6 votes

Firefox: 2 votes

IE: Dunce Cap

Unfortunately, I worked for the company the invented IE, so I don't have much of a choice…

I still use Firefox since I'm used to it.  I occasionally use Chrome, but it doesn't have all my bookmarks and saved passwords so I usually go back to Firefox. Plus, Google already has enough influence on the internet.   Clearing  your cookies and temporary internet files can speed up Firefox.

Chrome, its the fastest & cleanest IMO. I used Firefox for a long time but tried out Chrome when it first came out and never looked back.

I used to love Firefox but it became too slow as it ate up too many resources.  I switched to Chrome and after a little bit of an adjustment I love it.  When I use Firefox now it seems archaic.

I use Firefox at work and I do an 90/10 firefox/chrome split at home. I think Firefox has many more options and is easy to customize, but that usually comes at a price (performance and speed); so I use Chrome when I just need to check out a site quickly.

On my phone I use Firefox and Opera.

I've been a firefox user for years now and most sites seem to display better in FF than in IE. I sometimes use Chrome, but it's a little quirky. Since I help my husband build websites, I try and make sure all three browsers display them similarly and Chrome and FF always play along nicely – not so much for clunky IE.

CHROME CHROME CHROME CHROME CHROME CHROME!

That is six votes.

I was an avid Firefox user for years, but with all the hype around Chrome in 2008, I downloaded it to give it a shot. Was not a fan. Read about lots of improvements around 2010 and decided to give it another try. Here is how I decided to switch:

I installed Chrome and removed all of my FF shortcuts (kept the program) and replaced them with Chrome shortcuts. I set a calendar reminder for 2 weeks later. If I missed FF after two weeks, I would move back. If not, I was going to stay with Chrome. You can tell how that worked out.

I like chrome.  It seems quicker and more stable than IE although a few work platforms only work on IE so I technically use both.  I've never used firefox much, so I can't add much on FF.  Not sure if this is very helpful to you but I figure I'd chime in.

Thanks for all the feedback on this. I have not installed Chrome at home yet, but will once I know how to move all of our bookmarks/favorites over from firefox. Anyone know how to do that?

Also, updated tally:

Chrome: 10

Firefox: 5

IE: Kid who's always picked last for dodgeball…
