Hi.  What are some good sites for finding free pictures that you can use on your blog without fear of being sued?

Creativecommons.org (they don't host, but they search for images you could use from google, flickr and wikipedia). There are some other sites that has open source archived images or free stock images if you include the credit, I have them all in my bookmarks, I will update this thread when I get home. But CC should get you started and flickr has never disappointed me so far.

Here are the two main sources that I use:

http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/ – I only use the "Attribution License" section

http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

I hope this helps

Is there any risk of being sued with http://www.sxc.hu/ or http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

I just use Creative Commons.org for now, and a lot of the time, I'm unable to find a picture that suits the post.

I generally create my own image with power point. Results vary, but it creates more interest than having no image. Also, I design the images to attract clicks when presented as a thumbnail when posted to Facebook, my single best referral source. Smart color combination and simple imagery work best. I find that photos don't attract as much interest and often look like a smudged finger print in thumbnail format…not good for clicks.

almost 99% of the time I use flickr creative commons with all the boxes checked (e.g., modify and commercial).

I use Flickr creative commons with the checkboxes clicked.

Originally, I planned to pay for some decent stock photos but most sites require that you add a copyright link anyway, so it's not like there's any value-add for any of the credit-based photo sites.

I also use Flikr creative commons almost 100% of the time. I usually head here: flickr.com/search/advanced/ and then just click the correct options at the bottom of the page.

I just wanted to bump this post for anyone who wasn't aware of flickr creative commons.

I had been using http://www.sxc.hu/ and it has a very limited selection. Flickr is much better!

I wanna be a Thousandaire so freaking bad!

I have found another easy source for getting free images – Amazon!  I am an Amazon Affiliate.  I have not made a dime off of them, but I do use them for images.  And the best part is, if someone should happen to click on the image and then buy the product from Amazon, I make money.

Thanks so much for this link. Flickr just crashed my browser twice and I needed another option.
