I saw a big spike in traffic today, close to 1000 at this point and figured it can't be that I'm hosting the Totally Money Blog Carnival today.
Sure enough Frugal Toad was mentioned on The Consumerist. My first big mention so I'm pretty stoked!

While I'd like to say it's my good looks and gift with the pen, big laugh, I think in my case it had more to do with getting the Frugal Toad name where Phil could see it. Follow Phil on twitter, interact when appropriate, comment on The Consumerist.

Great news FT! It is pretty exciting when you see a spike in stats like that and then discover why. Especially for smaller sites like ours. We still get hits on 'how to make deodorant' mentioned by Phil – the referrals from the Consumerist.
The spike doesn't last (sure wish it did!) but remember the long term affects is some new readers and a juicy back link!
