So today I was hit with the reason that you should not be on Blogger or Wordpress.com if you can help it.
You should also not connect your Blogger blog with your main email address which I learned today as well.
Basically, I tried to login to my Google Voice and noticed I was locked out for accusation of malicious activity. I tried gmail, g plus and no go.
I had to have them send a verification code to my cell and once I got into my account I saw this email.
Hello, Your blog at http://latishadstyles.blogspot.com/ has been reviewed and confirmed as in violation of our Terms of Service for: MALICIOUS_JAVASCRIPT. In accordance to these terms, we've removed the blog and the URL is no longer accessible. For more information, please review the following resources: Blogger Terms of Service: http://blogger.com/terms.gBlogger Content Policy: http://blogger.com/content.g -The Blogger Team
Who knows what happened, but I changed my password and contacted Google. I only use that URL for old links that need to be forwarded but I'd rather not have it counted as malicious in case they decide to cut off any of the other services I use.
It also made me realize how dependent I am on Google's services, especially now that they are interconnected. anyone ever had this happen to them?

I was thinking of moving my site over to WP. I actually use Weebly. I have heard great things about WP but I have so much going on with my site that it would be like learning another language.
Sorry to hear about your situation.

Sorry that happened. I never got the smackdown when I was on Blogger, but I had read enough horror stories about others getting the rug pulled out from them with no warning, that I backed up weekly so that if they did shut me down, I'd at least have been able to restore the content elsewhere.

I was afraid of the blogger to wordpress conversion (I did a bit of research before I started blogging) and just started on WP.

Yikes…that's scary. Sometimes that the problem with free services. Companies think that they don't need to engage in good customer service.

Sorry to hear about that mess LaTisha. Companies like Google can be quick to act just based on automated checks. I assume they must've classified one of your scripts or plugins as malicious for some reason. With blogger you do have a lot less control over your blog. You are not free to just install whatever you want. The big problem is that once you are established on blogger, there is not a way to properly transfer your PR, alexa rankings and search engine rankings over to a wordpress blog.

Personally the fact that everything is interconnected now really gets on my nerves- yes it's convenient and probably has great strengths but the fact that something like this can totally ruin all you have going is concerning.
One example of Google being annoying is when you have multiple accounts. I accidentally signed up for my FrugalBeautiful Youtube channel on my personal account (if you know how confusing it can be to have one account that automatically logs in/switches over) and now I can't switch the channel to my other account. Apparently if you signed up with YouTube after it was purchased by Google you have very few options and it has to be connected to your Google (thus gmail) account that's logged in at the time. Ugh.

This thing annoys me, too. I have a Picasa photo gallery online tied to my personal account, and if I sign up for Google+ I have to make it public under my real name. So… I just haven't signed up for Google+.

I think it's uncool how entire blogs can be destroyed like that, but that's why I believe you need to be self-hosted with a hosting company, and keep local backups. I remember early on there was a ninja site that had some neat posts and graphs, and one day… the entire blog was wiped out.

That is one of my fears, too. I love Blogger but that fear is always there for me. I started a 2nd blog (to be announced here soon) on WP to try it out. Maybe in the future I will move The Single Saver there, too. But the problem is I really LIKE Blogger so it is hard for me to part ways with it.
Eric, if I ever do switch I will certainly contact you.

That happened to me awhile ago, and I asked for them to reinstate everything, and they did it. However I found out that they usually don't reinstate sites.

I'd move over sooner rather than later – it's so much easier on your own wordpress. You may have to learn a few things, but they arent hard. I set up a new site last night in under an hour, and i'm really not all that smart.

Youch, yes, that is a good reason to have your own domain & hosting. (And WordPress is an awesome content management system.) Did you have a backup of your blog that you could put elsewhere?
