Does anyone have any tips on converting new Facebook fans? I've been stuck at my same level for quite some time, even though Twitter and general site traffic has increased a lot.
Tips/thoughts?

I have struggled with the same thing myself. Maybe talk to Jesse. He seems to know a ton about social networking. I think part of it is starting convos on FB just like we do on Twitter. Gets people engaged.

I would be interested in hearing thoughts on this as well. We don't really have a great facebook offering at the moment, but when we start it would be great to know what works

I'm very interested in this as well. For all the begging and pleading I've done, I only have 23 likes, where I can often get a few Twitter followers a day. Facebook seems like a lot more work to get going, but I guess if you can get rolling, it could be worth it. Still, from what I've seen it's a bigger mountain to climb.

I agree with Miss T. that you should also pose questions or start discussions with the readers. I just read on Savvy Blogging that a woman quadrupled her Facebook fans by offering a free e-book ONLY available if you liked her page on Facebook. She took one of her popular series on her blog and added new content and created the e-book that way so it didn't take a lot of time.

Our base has grown slowly but surely. I have no idea what draws people to like a site or not. I am glad that we bought the full social media package from Peter for our banners, twitter page and FB page. They all looked really amateur prior to his working his magic.

I post my additional facebook likes each week on my blog updates, and I have seen steady increases. Quite honestly my giveaways are a big part of it… I always try and make my giveaway more about subscribing via email, and then a facebook like as multiple entries. Twitter, comments, etc., are all one entry only…weighting it like that has made a huge difference on opening up social media for me. Im thinking about including Reddit into the giveaways from now on as well, i have been getting a ton of traffic from there.

If you have a personal account on FB you will get more likes. Facebook is more personal whereas Twitter is more like you don't have to be a friend to follow.
Getting a fan is harder because they are looking for a real person behind the fan page. I think Punch Debt does a good job of engaging on Facebook by posting his blog posts as notes.

I think we really need to revive the Facebook teams to show more participation. Once people see lots of interaction they will be more likely to click like and join in.

I agree too. I am up for whatever method we decide to boost our FB pages.

I've been stuck at 95 for a long time now too. We'll run a giveaway soon and I think that will help a lot.

I havent had much success here either, though I've noticed some people just skyrocked (im talking like 1k+ likes in 6 weeks) on fb and I've got very, very little insight into what was done.
It seemed like asking a lot of questions/commenting on other posts a lot made a difference, but that was the only thing I noticed.

Facebook offered me $50 free advertising on Tuesday. I threw an ad together and it has given me an additional 8 likes in 2 days. Yeah, it's not huge, but it helps.

That's cool. If I get free advertising I may try that out.

$50 for 8 likes? Wow. I was hearing things about people getting facebook clicks for like 3 cents per click.

Tony "like" is much different than "clicks". Click is just a click and like is an action. Now 8 more people will get Hunter's facebook feed, share it with others, comment… That is much more valuable than clicks. Even if 1000 people clicked on his ad, but didn't do anything there really is no point in getting all those 1000 people. Quantity doesn't matter, quality does.
