@ Kyle: I am not going to have 15 LIVE posts when I launch, I am just going to have 15 articles pre-written so I don't have a lapse in content at any time. I will launch with 1 LIVE post, and a filled out "About" page :)
@ Aloysa: I am going to launch with one post, but definitely need a repository for myself, because I know how my brain works, and I will definitely not feel comfortable unless I have some pre-written posts. Also, this allows me to iron out my writing process and skills before I'm LIVE. :)

That's a great idea. 15 is more than enough for launch.
I started with just one and then ideas came tumbling through. You've got to grow organically.
Good luck!

@ Wisdomona: I agree. I feel like the more I write, the more I have to write about! I am starting to find my voice a bit, and I think I like it :)

You have the right idea. It's not about how many are live immediately, it's about the queue.
Having 6 weeks of prewritten posts frees you up for what you should be focusing on: commenting on other pf blogs.
The commenting is the only thing that is going to bring any traffic or readership at first.
Good luck (you are certainly building the buzz for these posts :)

Hello All!
Getting excited as I start writing my first few articles that will help shape the foundation of my blog.
Question: How many articles did you launch your first blog with?
I am hoping to have about 15 or so in the queue before launch, but I want to launch with a few staple articles already live so people who view the blog don't just click through tabs and only see 1 or 2 posts. I want to have the "About" section filled out, an "Intro to budgeting" article, and possibly just a standard article on the front page.
Thoughts?
My first post was my one and only…I actually "launched" my blog prior to having anything written it up…go at any pace you desire.

@ John: That's exactly what I want to do! I am trying to do all of this while only commiting an hour every morning for any blogging activity for right now. Having 15 pre-written posts will allow me to not only work out my writing style, but free up some time to comment, network, and keep a good conversation going on my own blog comments. I am trying to have a good foundation laid which will allow me to post content consistently and be involved in a good network of other blogs I enjoy. I am approaching this not only as a passion, but as a future business, and want to build it properly so I can enjoy it more
@ MIR: Thanks! I think there's no "right" way to do it, only what right for you. Since I know that I want to free up some time for bnetworking and such, having a queue will help me achieve that goal (as well as let me rest easy knowing I've already got some AWESOME POSTS lined up ). I am getting more and more excited to launch. My editor (read: wife) has been a great help in pre-screening my posts, and I definitely have to shake off the dust on my writing skills, but I am very happy with the progress. I am a sucker for people pleasing, so I hope everyone else here enjoys them once I go LIVE!!

When I first launched, I had one. I don't even think I had an about page yet.
From what I've seen with most bloggers, it's not about the first 15 that matters, it's about the 15 after that, then the next 15, so on and so forth.
I remember reading somewhere that don't expect anything from your blog until you pass 100 published posts. Very overwhelming at first, but there's a lot of truth to it.
Keep up the motivation and your blog will do well.
Totally agree with Jeff. Although I had written a bunch when I launched, I just posted 2 per week and spent a ton of time commenting on other sites to get my name out. No matter what you do, you can't avoid putting in the time before you get much traffice.

@ Barb: From what I've read, seems like the best way to start is what you and Jeff stated. Put out good, consistent content and be everywhere!
