Hey fellow Yakezites (Yakezians? Yaks? What's the correct plural form by the way?!), I'm looking for feedback on my site. I've been up and running for about 1.5 months now and growth has been pretty slow. I'm realistic, of course, and don't have any delusions (or, at least I hope I don't!), but I'm new to the ins and outs of the blogging world and not sure if I'm off to the right track.

My Alexa score of 571,984 is decent, I suppose. However I think that's a bit misleading because my traffic is abysmal. According to G Analytics, I'm getting about 10-15 unique visitors a day (and that's only recently). In the 1.5 months, I've had less than 200 unique visitors and a high bounce rate (53%). Is that normal? Based on some of the other recent success stories posted here it seems subpar. While I've definitely got work to do, I've been reaching out/networking as best as time permits especially when it comes to commenting on other sites.

Anyway, my site is Personal Finance Utopia.

So praise me or roast me, either way is fine. I'm just seeking legitimate feedback be it site layout, content, etc. Advice, constructive criticism, anything goes. You can either e-mail me or respond here (I won't be embarrassed if you've something harsh to say!). Thanks – you all have been extremely helpful thus far in my 1.5 months!

I checked out your site and don't see any glaring issues about layout or anything. I did start following you on twitter. I remember when I was getting low traffic numbers (not that I'm breaking any records right now) and it is frustrating. I would suggest you start following a lot more pf bloggers and promote their posts. You should be reaching out for guest posting opportunities too. (Feel free to email me if you'd want to guest post on my site.)

People aren't going to simply show up. You have to get your name out there for people to start showing up. Hope that helps!

I had some other issues that you probably won't have to worry about, but I was operating at the <25 daily pageviews level for a year.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I'm not sure whether to be encouraged or discouraged by that!!

I just checked out my GA. With the exception of a few days, I was under 15 days almost every day for two months. Right about my 2 month mark is when I started to see a noticeable change in traffic. Just keep networking, sharing others posts, and most importantly writing and you should be fine.

Commenting on fellow Yakezie sites might bring back a few visitors as well.  Tweets work if you tweet out other people's posts.

Your site looks fine and your Alexa score is down by almost half since you posted.

I Like it! May be the colour won't be my choice but then it's your site (nothing to get very excited about). Just keep at it, as the others said.

I never had to go through that stage with The Money Principle (always had more that 20 visitors per day) but I leveled off at 60-70 for several months. Than my trafic started going up….

Although everyone is concerned with the look of a website, content is always the key. I would suggest a bigger title because it is what grabs people.
