Interesting… I wonder if this means they are going to do a PR update anytime soon?

They should be soon. They update it every 4-6 months. The last update was in late July.

If this means my holiday article will get priority of 5 years old GRS article on same subject, I am not complaining.

If they can differentiate between "hot news" and timeless information, I think this is a good move.

I will wait and later add my comments but last update did touch this sort of thing. It is difficult to figure out what is really timeless and what is not. A recipe clearly is timeless but much of personal finance? Every big media "blog" will write about seasonal topics too and write about them frequently even if they are not as good as bloggers. We don't have the resources or the time to keep writing about the same topics again and again. My only worry is this will give importance to the fresh news that is put out by the main stream media whereas the 3 month old news from a blogger should be the first one because the quality is better.
But I have not seen the results. So I would wait to see the results and then celebrate.

I think this will be good for those pillar posts that we write. I have a few posts that are 'news' centered but mostly I think our information will be relevant still.
If not, tweak with current information and republish, right?
