I just wanted to share a Google Tool that lets you create a link when you are guest posting that will tie in to your Analytics Account.
http://www.google.com/support/…..swer=55578
From ProBlogger:
Using campaign variables you can add extra information to your posts which will help you to answer questions like:
- Which guest posts drove the most traffic to my site?
- Which websites with guest posts drove the most traffic to to my site?
- Which posts resulted in opt-ins to my email list?
- Which websites gave me more opt-ins to my email list?
- Which source of traffic is better for me? Facebook, guest posting or search engines?
I plan on using this when I guest post, and I'll share what I learned. If anyone is currently using this tool I would like to know how it is working for you.

While it's nice for stats, I do have one small SEO concern. While it'll still pass on most/all link juice (hard to guarantee in the magical world of google), I would prefer a "clean link" straight to the canonical page.
I can figure out most traffic from a link based on the visits to the post that day. Don't just simply trust referring views from the site, since many may come through by email or rss as well.

Another consideration is that the host may not like the links in the guest article. The parameters make it look like you are tracking advertising.

Thanks for sharing. If I saw a link in that format I would probably think it was an affiliate link, but it can certainly be used for a few of other useful things
