Hey everyone-

I am just wondering how long it took you to get achieve decent traffic and a google page rank? Are any tips or tricks or to getting your website to rank? I've been posting about 3-4 times per week since November and have an alexa score of 313,449. That seems to decreasing everyday by a few thousand. I thought my posts were fairly SEO friendly but I'm just not getting there in the traffic yet. Any advice or am I just being too impatient?

Thanks!

Liz

There's no exact formula. Things tend to be rather vague when it comes to page rank and most things Google. My guess is that it's still too early for you. Hang in there and keep on going.

Try responding to some HARO queries to get some quality inbound links from bigger sites. That helped me, but it still took several months to get ranked.

I'm in the same boat, my site is new and things are moving slower than I'd like. My plan is just to hang in there. Thanks for the HARO tip, I had not heard of that before.

If you are just starting you should get a routine of posting, commenting and other activities that will get you backlinks. Use this time to sort out your blog and content since nobody is really looking at your blog. Every new bloggers keep checking their stats and visitors. It is too early to start counting your chickens after two months. Give yourself at least six months.

Just takes time. I'm sure you'll progress after 1 solid year of output.

And finally, pagerank doesn't really matter much past 2 imo. Traffic and credibility is what matters.

Debt Debs – HARO queries are "Help A Reporter Out" queries.  I just looked into this today and signed up to receive emails from HARO.  http://www.helpareporter.com/ is the website I found. Essentially reporters will send out an email looking for sources for a story, and they choose the best response they get.

Another good idea to build traffic is checking the Reddit subs in your niche (frugal, real estate, personal finance, etc.) People ask questions and you can answer in the form of a post then link to it on Reddit.

Regarding pagerank, guest posting on higher pagerank sites can help you build your pagerank, so it networking with other bloggers and getting your content out there so more people link back to it. It takes time and who knows when the next PR update will be…

Like Sam said- it takes time and luck. Sometimes you see really really basic sites rank, but not sites the are built extensively.
