Hi Everybody,

Lately I've been noticing when I go view my google analystics on Google, my site visitors is dropping.

I remember a few weeks back, I had over 1200 visitors thus far, since I added the financefox.ca to analystics.

Now that number is down to 954. I average about 45-50 visitors daily, but not much has changed.

Also, what's with the bounce rate? Is 70.9% not good? The average time a user spends on my site is 2 mins 30 seconds.

Can anyone give me some insights?

Recomendations?

Thanks!

Fox

Google made serious adjustments to their algorithms around the 3rd-4th of both January and February.  Recently, Matt Cutts has been talking about the role of duplicate content and mass duplication of articles accross the web, later adding that Google is taking steps to reward sites that are the most original.

Based on what I've seen from my sites and client sites, this seems to have been true.  Those with limited content, or copied content (easy killers…no copyright infringement, just bad internal duplication) saw a relative decline, those that were 100% original saw a hefty bump.  Again, that isnt to say there are any problems on your website, just a general remark about the state of the SEO world. :P

A bounce rate of 70% isn't really all that bad.  I imagine that most of your traffic is search engine oriented, and thus wants only an answer to their questions.  Once they get their answer, they're gone.  I'd be happy with 70% on a blog.  Consider shortening your URLS to increase SE visitiors.

Example:

The URL: http://www.financefox.ca/index…..bank-fees/

Could become: http://www.financefox.ca/lower…..bank-fees/

Less keyword dilution.

Also, consider reversing your titles.

Title: Finance Fox | Frugal Personal Finance | LOWER YOUR BANK FEES

Revised: LOWER YOUR BANK FEES | Finance Fox | Frugal Personal Finance

Going one further step and using the blog post title only would greatly increase your SE traffic, I think.

Those are great tips JT. A 70% bounce rate is kind of high. I would think 50% is good.
