Good morning, Yakeziers.

Over the last couple days, Google has taken Panda international.  This update, which hit the US in Feb/March, is now spreading around the (mostly-English) speaking world, and I'm digging it.

If you're seeing more search traffic, awesome!  If you aren't, keep on keepin' on.

Here's a first-look at how it's affecting sites across the pond: http://bit.ly/idk9vo

I'm happy to report that eHow.com/.co.uk are getting absolutely SLAUGHTERED overseas, which makes me smile a little on the inside.  Wink

Cool! I hadn't heard of this! So if I'm understanding this correctly, the new Panda coding basically gives non-spam sites a boost in the Google search rankings?

From the data I've recorded and from studies elsewhere, its more like the spammy sites are falling to the bottom more than the good sites are moving up. Lots of people are seeing 30 plus dips in their rankings for their least fleshed out sites.
But yeah, net result is that quality is being rewarded in a big way. I was stoked to see traffic on one of my sites in a spammy niche see 30 percent higher than average traffic yesterday. Hopefully you're seeing a jump at mjtm?

Good to know!  Too many were gaming the system with spam links.

I don't know but my search engine traffic has increased a bit over the month and is now the highest it's ever been, which is a good thing! Gotta keep building it all up.

My traffic has sharply increased this week, but I think it's because I write a lot of tax-related articles.

I've been talking with quite a few more established PF bloggers, and some of us – myself included – are seeing huge drops in our traffic after the April 11th update.  Some of the newer or smaller sites aren't seeing much change or are seeing some increases. Not sure why it is exactly.

One of my sites last week saw a 50% drop in traffic.  When you lose half of your traffic – obviously it's going to hurt. Now i just have to figure out why google slapped me so hard, and see what i can do to fix it.

Unfortunately it does seem like a lot of non-spam sites were hurt in the rollout – for unknown reasons – i'm just hoping that in the coming weeks that they'll continue making changes to their algorithm and some of the legitimate sites with legit unique content will rise back up..

articles talking about it in case anyone else here has been affected:

My traffic had a modest gain (not too big) after the US update across all sites. I think having a deep well of content going back 2+ years helped.

I took a dive for one day and came back. After I came back up, the traffic has been really good. But as Khaleef, I also write a lot of tax related articles, so I don't know if the traffic boost is due to the Panda update or just people looking to do taxes at the last minute. I am now really scared about what would happen from tomorrow, I don't want my traffic to go down 80% Frown but I am preparing myself for that.
