I know a lot of us here have more than one blog or are looking to expand.  On my website I listed the runners up to my personal finance blog (http://www.debtpayer.com),  they are all unclaimed so could be purchased for like $7.00.  Go check out the list of great unclaimed personal finance domain names as I think there are some winners and I'd be interested to see if you agree and if you think I chose the wrong domain name.

Great list!

I have to resist the urge to buy a few of them, but I know that any half-way decent domain you can pick up right now will only appreciate in value in the future.

That is a pretty good list! I already have one domain that I'm not even using right now though…. so I'd better not pick up another one.

There are pretty solid names there. I don't need another domain yet, but have to say that based on supply and demand it seems as if good names may have some value going forward. With so many blogs launching all the time, the availability of good names might really decrease one would think.

I shouldnt have read the list…Debtfool just sounds too good, and I certainly dont need another domain name.

I once had a boss who must've bought up 10,000 domain names, most of them mortgage/banking related.  I worked for him for years, and he never sold one…that was nearly 10 years ago now…I wonder if any of them ever paid off.

I bought up like 20, lol.  I'm selling 4 of them right now on ebay (http://www.zerjo.com), http://www.4agy.com, http://www.discreditors.com, http://www.mobilepublicrelations.com.  With 4 days to go they all have like 1 bid for 99cents each, lol.

I wouldn't develop anything with DebtFool.

Have you heard of a site called SavingAdvice.com?  One of the older money sites on the web.  It used to be called GreedyFools.com.  See where that domain points now?

Motley Fool served up a C&D.  It benefited a lot from GreedyFools' traffic for quite a while.

Speaking like a true lawyer, lol.  I never even thought about that connection.  I hate how company's try to muscle people out with words.  Greedyfool's sounds nothing like motley fool.  How does a company think they can trademark the word "fool."  crazy.  And also why I don't do IP law. (it's over my head).

WOW!  C & D?  Did they at least pay you for the domain or try and say you were squatting?  I'm sorry, just because it shared a common word in the name, all of a sudden you're infringing?  Microsoft better start going after anyone using micro in their name.  Apple should also go after any companies that have apple in their name.  Wow.  If they did pay you decently, then I'll have more respect for them.

Thanks,

Timothy

Just to be clear: GreedyFools.com wasn't my name, but here's the information (dates back to 2003):

http://www.dnforum.com/f26/cea…..42327.html

All I was doing was calling attention to what might happen with DebtFool.com in the list of domains for the current thread.  Nothing would happen until the site was successful, of course. Yell

Actually, fool.com continues to benefit from this maneuver.  See here:

http://www.ineedsomespace.com/…..ng_01.html

The link on the bottom redirects to fool.com.

More recently, AllFinancialMatters.com ran up against this.  His blog used to be called All Things Financial.  Well, some bank (in Tennessee I believe) trademarked that term.  At least he hasn't been asked to surrender that domain name.

Fun fun fun.

I've been doing some searching on GoDaddy for new domains that may have potential. I would love to know what others think about this. I'm thinking that .org .info and .biz sites offer greater potential to differentiate that the old .com? I think there is more potential to find a shorter, snappy url too.

I think that a cool finance blog name would be phdfinance.com! I wonder if that one is available…

pfbuz.com is available. That's would be a close cousin to the popular pfbuzz.com site.

IMO, the best way to lose all credibility is to use a .info domain.  Dot infos are notorious for spamming, since they were once $1.95 for a full year.  I'd much rather have a .com with 10 words than a .info with one, but that's just me. Dot net and dot org are okay, but go to a dotcom as a #1 choice.  Dotcom is the default for type-in traffic, and it would suck to develop a non-dotcom and lost typein traffic to the other extensions.
