I was looking at writing on InfoBarrel as a way to supplement my income, but I am wondering if it is worth it. Have any of you written for InfoBarrel? What are your experiences? Did you make any money? Thanks.

Hello Melissa!
I am experimenting with them as we speak. I started on Eric's challenge (you might want to check it out), and have written 35 articles so far. I have only been paid $5.00 and some change, but am now taking a step back and learning more about SEO and ads and everything else. I used to write for eHow before they changed everything; I have about 50 articles there, and make anywhere from $10-$30 a month without doing anything. It's quite a great concept:). Definitely work in the beginning, but if you do a challenge and really get into it, you can then reap the rewards for years to come. Also, I have found Infobarrel's forums are EXTREMELY helpful–people there are really helpful and nice, like the Yakezie forums! It's such a relief. So if you have questions, definitely go there and ask. Here's the link to Eric's challenge: http://www.my4hrworkweek.com/i…..per-month/
Hope this helps!

Thanks, Amanda. I did happen to stumble upon that post earlier, which made me ask the question. I didn't want to invest a great deal of time writing the articles if there wouldn't be much of a payoff. I will try writing some and see how it goes. How many articles are you planning to write initially?

Hello Melissa!
I plan on getting to 100, because everyone on the forums says it takes to around 100 to really start moving. I know it's a bit of a risk though…so I am trying to do my research first on how to write for SEO and such. Honestly, I haven't had time to in the last several weeks, but hope to ease back into it in the next few.

Melissa, thanks for bringing this to our attention! I have not heard of many of these sites that promise income for articles. Based on Amanda's response, it sounds like the site has some potential for passive income, pretty risky though! I recently became a staff writer and the site pays me per article and also pays extra if my articles receive a large amount of viewings (a potential for passive income). So, maybe this could be an option as well. :)

Derek, where did you find your staff writing position? I looked on Pro Blogger but haven't found one yet. I agree that a staff writing position is much more secure than Info Barrel.

I write a few articles for them and didn't realise they pay! Hub pages and Squidoo can give some decent passive income if you do your research but as mentioned a decent staff writing gig may be a better way to go.
