This year's BlogHer conference is not far from my home, so I am thinking about going. However, the $400 ticket price is a bit steep. Has anyone attended a BlogHer conference before? If so, what was your experience? Would you recommend going?

While I personally have not gone, I have a food blogger friend here in town that went several years ago and says it was worth it. Essentially, she said that it is worth going if you know you'll have other blogger-friends there you can network with/hang out with.

Obviously I haven't gone myself, but I have heard that it's definitely worth it. I know that Kay Lynn has gone (she always brags about the swag lol). Is it going to be in NYC this year?

No, it is in Chicago this year, which is very close to me.

Melissa, I know that Marissa (http://thirtysixmonths.com) went to BlogHer last year. I remember her saying that she was the only PF blogger there. You can ask her for more insight on the conference.

I've gone before, years ago, when I was blogging in another niche. It was really great and useful then. But as a PF blogger I probably wouldn't go. I think the other niche PF blogger conferences would be better. Well, I would guess so but I haven't been to one yet. I really want to this year!

I think it's a valuable conference no matter what niche. I've met many PF bloggers there over the years including Suba, Donna Freedman, and even J Money.
There are personal finance brands there you can connect with in addition to many others that might be on the periphery. It's how I connected with Tempur-Pedic and ended up getting a bed to review and then also giveaway one.
The content is fantastic and they even have hands-on small group sessions with experts on writing, coding, etc.
