Hello Yakezie community. I've just joined the challenge. Been slogging away at it fulltime for a few months now and down to 722,048 on Alexa rankings. Still waiting for blog to be profitable (that's one of our top reasons for all this right?).
I've heard about a good number of you through Wisebread and probably have even commented on your sites or stumbled if you're on there. I've done one guest post at for Ashley at Moneytalks Coaching and hope to do more in the future around the PF community.
PF background is Dave Ramsey counselor and FPU leader 4x. I also do some light bookkeeping. I'm trying to decide if I'm a financial coach who blogs or a PF blogger who coaches. Dilemma. Thoughts?
I'm not really sure how this community works (Has anyone done an intro to Yakezie video yet?) Any guidance is appreciated.
Look forward to helping others and also helping our own families by creating income. See you in the comments.

Welcome! Here's Sam's post about how to join the challenge: http://www.financialsamurai.co…..challenge/ in case you haven't seen it. I don't think an intro video has been done, but it sounds interesting. Maybe you should present the idea to Sam.
Looks like you are off to a great start. BTW, as some other people actively involved with Yakezie will tell you, if you are just blogging for the money, you should stop now. I'm not sure I would go that extreme, but you should know that it takes some people 1 year before earning over $100. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Hi Brent and welcome to Yakezie! I agree with the others–you're off to a great start.
I also 100% agree with Corey. If one of your primary or top reasons for blogging is to earn money, you should rethink your reasons. It is hard to make money blogging and while it's nice and all, it certainly shouldn't be your motivation. Doing this primarily for money will cause you to burn out and/or give up really quickly. You need to really think about why you're blogging and use that as your reason to keep doing it.

Thanks for the responses and encouragement so far. I'll try to swing by your sites soon.
@ ThisandthatMBA- Thanks for the offer!
@jaicatalano- Thank you sir!
@ 20's finance- perhaps belt points could be awarded for making how to or help videos re: the Yakezie community? Just throwing it out there if any admins are reading.
@20's finance, @ Jana- Thanks for the warning about $. I don't think it's my top reason, but it's top 3 for sure. I would love for my writing to be able to produce the majority of my income sometime in the next 1-2 years.
@Smartwealth- Thanks Michigan. Staying warm?
@MoneyistheRoot- Guest post, perhaps. I've already got a good list of guest posts to churn out at the moment.
@SavyScot- Thank you sir. I'll attribute anything that looks good on my blog to Standard Theme. I have 0 artistic ability.

Welcome to Yakezie, Brent! It might take awhile, but if you're active in the community, comment and support other people's blogs, make connections, hang out on Yakezie and write great content you will eventually turn a profit I'm sure.

Hi Brent! Welcome! I agree with the others who said don't make money one of your main motivations. Few will strike it rich blogging, and most who do really do so because of side hustles related to their blogging. If you try too hard to follow the money you will get frustrated. Personally, I aim low and am happy just to cover expenses. Anything extra is nice, of course! As for turning a profit on your site, it usually takes at least 6 months to really get a site established to that point so that can at least give you something in the future to work towards. Good luck, and feel free to contact m if you have any questions.

Welcome to the community Brent. I like your clean blog design. I'm sure things will start to take off as you become more active with yakezie and other blogs. Personally I think it is fine to have money as one of your top priorities. You just have to be willing to wait a while to see any. Good luck going forward.

@krantcents glad to be here. How is your blogging going?
@Daisy, I like you're positive attitude. Every year my wife and I have a theme. Last year was Lemonade…guess why?
@thesinglesaver I don't need to strike it rich, just provide for the family. I know what you mean about the side hustles-I've already got a blogging for $ gig in another field based on my PF site. I'm curious what your main motivations are for PF blogging?
@themodestmoney thanks! I'm realizing the time thing…building it slowly. Gotta have goals right?
@DollarD We're not challengers, we're 'Yakezie pledge brothers' (if you're a guy). I'll stop by your site in a bit. Do we have a Challengers list yet? Do you know many of us there are?

I started blogging because I am sort of a frugal geek. I am in a position where I don't *have* to be frugal, but I truly enjoy it and find it a challenge. So I guess for me you could say my motivation is basically just that it is my hobby. It is fun. And I enjoy it.
Now don't get me wrong… it is nice to be compensated, but that is just bonus to me.
Nothing wrong with making a few bucks from blogging… just don't expect to because it certainly isn't as easy as some make it seem.
