I received an email (in my spam box) that HG did a server migration to new hardware this past week.  Since I hadn't been notified about it, I was suspicious that it might be a hoax.

I contacted HG support via a live chat, and they confirmed that yes they really did migrate my account.

I had to have my HG control panel password reset – they changed the login location and my old password didn't work anymore.

Just thought I would share this info to see if anyone else was impacted by this.

Ive had it happen on a few of my sites and it went ok, but hostgator as a whole has been terrible the last 6 months or so. Seriously long page load times so Im in the process of moving them.

They did migrate my site to new servers but gave two weeks advance notice prior to that.

Actually it was a cost cutting initiative which pushed more sites in to servers, kind of over crowding you can say, to save their operational cost, at the expense of performance degradation for sites.

Are you sure you didn't receive any communication?

I am with BYI, performance has been terrible since I was moved.

This happened to me as well, but they did give me advance notice. As BYI has noted, the performance of HG has been terrible for the last 5 or 6 months and I am seriously considering moving!

For what it is worth, I have been with Bluehost for 3 years and no significant problems.

I agree, Bluehost is the best host Ive used regarding performance…but their customer care is lacking, they do not go out of their way or stray from their mediocre FAQ's list.

Hard to know what to do.  I haven't had problems with speed on hg until recently and no issues otherwise.

Server migration is fairly common with shared servers. Unless your site is running slower, no reason to complain. I've been with them a long time and have good speeds. Worked on sites on Dreamhost lately and they were SUPER slow.
