Hey guys,
Just curious, how big is your post, article queue or do you just whip things up an hour before?

I keep about 15 topics in my article queue. I go to these when I run out of ideas.

Hey Derek,
I've been using QuickPress to draft and jot notes, but the articles are not fully written. I've been writing things up the day of. Trying to be more efficient since I have a ton of notes and ideas floating around in my queue, but none are ready to be published. If I ever have writer's block for a day, I'll be in trouble. The flip side, posting on the day of feels fresher. Just wondering how everyone else does it.

I have a note pad of about 35 ideas that I haven't looked at for a month or so. I also have 11 posts written and scheduled right now plus 2 staff writer posts. I do my weekly Saturday roundups and Sunday blog stats update on every Friday and Saturday but the rest of my weekly posts are usually written a week or two in advance.

I was just about to ask this question myself!
Right now, I have no posts written in advance. I typically write my posts the day before they're published. Sometimes I'll manage to get 2 or 3 in line. I'd really like to have a queue of a month's worth of posts. That'd be 20 or so based on my publishing schedule of 1 per day M-F. There are some days that I just don't want to write. Or I'm sick and turning on the computer is the last thing on my mind.

I've actually gotten to where I have about 10 articles in my queue but there are plenty of times where I'm writing stuff the night before.

Right now I can only dream of having a queue of full posts :) However, I do have a lengthy list of post ideas stored in Evernote. Some of them have ideas or a brieif outline and others are just working titles. It's at 18 right now, plus I have more jotted down in a notebook.

I have exactly 1 post in the queue, which will be set free in about 8 hours…
I do have 70 posts in draft. Some are just one line, some are a couple paragraphs. When I get an idea, I quick open a new post and do a quick brain dump if I don't have time to write the whole post.

Wouldn't have imagined any less from the Terminator. 35 ideas? 11 posts and 2 staff writer posts? Amazing. Are you also from the future?

Cool I'm a mind reader, too! Was just curious as I've been blogging away for a few months. Dunno why it hit me, what if I hit a wall? Just wanted to see what the veterans were doing.

10 is a nice safe number, might have to work towards that. With my MWF schedule, maybe I'll start off with a week in advanced (3). Dunno how everyone does it…

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I get a little frustrated looking through my admin page and seeing all my drafts all over the place. I'm trying to consolidate and bring it down by having a Blog Ideas post saved as a draft and some ideas and notes underneath it. Seems to be helping a bit, but need to clean up a little more.

We're similar except for the 1 post in queue I think I had one early on and it was used quite quickly. You have a huge number of drafts, I think I have about 15 or 20. Do some of them get outdated? I see a few that are kind of getting cold myself…

I have about 20 drafts. Some of them have about 4-500 words and others just have a sentence or two! I want to have a month worth of posts scheduled in the future (since I have so many other writing obligations now), so I need a few days to finish these drafts!

Hello!
I have hundreds of ideas that are written notepads, little snippets of paper, or torn magazine pages. I write all of my articles in Word, and so right now I have about 30 articles that I have begun. During the week I pick one or two to work on, then on the weekend I put much more time into them and post for the entire next week by Sunday evening.

We keep our ideas on a google sheet since we both need to access it. Plus we need to keep track of 365 sustainability tips this year which is easier said than done.
In the queue? Ouch, not much. I have a few guest posts I need to get into the queue but we have none of our work lined up. Life, work and home renos get in the way.

Right now, I'm about a week ahead of myself, but I'd like to make it two. Usually, when I get that far out, I start slacking and lose my lead. I write MWFS, so I'm trying to write a post every day to extend my lead time.
If anyone wants to help, I like guest posts. :)
