few things have worked for me

 

1) WWSGD plugin

2) Free giveaway and opt in above the fold

3) A similar blurb to #1 above on my Feedburner feed – there are plugins that will do this for you – one such is called RSS Footer

 

TIP: if using #3, make the blurb appear above the post if you are serving Adsense ads, or the ads get blocked, unless the ads are above the post and then you can make the footer after the post (on the bottom)
