How do you handle sales tax? | Bloggers Lair | Yakezie Forums

I'm getting very close to having my very first book ready to publish and sell.  BUT, I am not sure how to handle the sales tax collection. 

What products do you all know about that can help me figure out if I need to collect it in a given sale – and how much it is.

I understand that I must collect sales tax on items sold to people in my own state – and to people sold to anyone in a state in which I have a 'nexus'.  I think this means that if I use something like eJunkie to have affiliates sell for me, that what ever state they are in will be a nexus for me.  I've also read that if there is a distribution center in a state (like if I had the book printed and mailed directly from the print location), some states consider that to be a nexus too.  How the heck does anyone keep track of state laws for 50 states?

Amazon sales just baffle me – as far as collecting sales tax – so I'm interested in your experiences in selling books via them.  They don't collect for my state (and no longer let me sell because my state's 'nexus' has expanded to include affiliates).
