1) what are the info links??

2) I'm pretty sure i got rid of the 468X60 boxes that used to be on my homepage for each post.

Right now, I have the big 1600X600 skyscraper in the right sidebar. Also, I have the large rectangle in each post page, just not being displayed on the homepage.

Check it out. I'm pretty sure these are the only 2 ads running on my page now. Let me know what you think.

Jeff,

I am sorry I feel like such a jerk I was looking at the wrong site!  I went to college investors site! Here is what I think on your site:

1)  Take the uncategorized out of your navigation (there is a way to do it if you want I can look it up).

2)  Change the color of the links on adsense to match those on your site

3)  Add a page navigation plug in (so you have #s at the bottom of the posts)

4)  Add a disclaimer/privacy page

I prefer 3 columns but as you can tell I am very comfortable advertising lol

I started with adsense 3 months ago and I only got $20 so far. :(

I'll try Evan's advice and get rid of the small ad and put in a big text only box… ugh..

If you are worried about alienating or it looking terrible an option you could use is the ad Injection plugin.  I just set it up for The Wife yesterday to show ads on posts older than 7 days.

I use Whydowork Adsense to do what Evan suggested – that huge box its only on my older posts.

He has been using his wife's account for a while now if I remember right and that has been well so far.

That's right. I've been paid out with my wife's account, so whatever problem they had before didn't show up this time…I hope! I installed her code on 1/1/11, and it took me 1 month and 1 day to earn $100.

No worries. I changed everything else, and thanks a lot for the help, but what do you mean by #3?

Not sure it'll help you with adsense but I hate when sites don't have it.  I am sure there is a better one out there but here is an example

From what I remember, Blogger has a really easy integration if you click on the "Monetization" tab and link your Adsense account to Blogger. Then you'll want to either ad a text widget and copy code from Adsense ads you've created on the side bar and individual posts or you can simply select the options on ad placement on the "Customize ads" link at the bottom of the "Monetize" tab.

(By the way, your signature link needs to have "http://" infront of your blog address in order to link to your blog and not the parent page. When I clicked it, it took me to http://yakezie.com/forums/blog.familymoneyvalues.com/)

Jeff,

If I were making any recommendations, beyond just writing cause your stuff is awesome (and these were recommended to me from TFB when I went to him with the same question):

1)  Get rid of those annoying f'in info link things! I hate those lol and they can't possibly be bringing in all that much

2)  Change the 468x70 box to the largest square adsense has

3)  Put that largest square adsense at the beginning and at the end of the post

4)  My left sidebar converts well, but you don't seem to have a space for it.

5)  The large adsense squares should just be text…I know they are ugly but for whatever reason people (not you and I people) click them.

Hope this wasn't too forward.

lol! I feel like I've written those line word for word ;-) hehehe!

seriously, it took me probably a year to get my first $100… that was when I didn't know anything about blogging (it was much tougher to find info back in 2006!)

now I can do it in one or 2 days… crazy isn't?

It took me 4 months on my first site, and then 3 months on the
second. Both sites have hit at least the $100 payout every month since.

I ended up getting rid of all boxes on the homepage, just on past posts that people find via search engine.  I did this, and saw no change in revenue from AdBrite (remember, I can't use AdSense).  As for InfoLinks, it pays super well, way more than anything else.  I know it is annoying, but I get paid you you hover and it pops up!

I think it was 3-5 months? I honestly don't remember anymore, it might have been about 5-6 because I remember in the beginning it was only $10 – $20 a month, and then it picked up from there. Right now I'm at another plateau though. ;)

The funny thing is that I reached the $100 fairly quickly. Good sign, right? WRONG lol. It turns out that my site just wasn't made to be an adsense cash cow. I usually hover around the $150 mark. The most I ever made was like $250. I realized that adsense was influencing my post topics and that it was hurting my community. This is why I try to write about only topics that interest me now. I focus more on private advertising and hopefully releasing more products soon. That's just me though.

I just have one ad and it's hardly noticeable, so I don't expect to get much from my Adsense ads, but I'm sitting on about $55 after 7 or 8 months. I'm sure it would go faster if I were more aggressive with my ad placements

I wanna be a Thousandaire so freaking bad!
