If you are not happy with your results, play with the ad placement and see how you do. It can make a big difference.

Took 2 months (after the site was live for a month).
I find image banners work well compared to text banners. Google suggests mixing it up(currently have it mixed) for better performance but I don't see an increase at all. I recently started using a skyscrapper ad (had a leaderboard and a big box ad) and I find it gets more clicks.

What traffic are you seeing to hit 100 per month?

Im currently at almost $100 per month… but unfortunately I have adsense on 5 different sites, though I will say that 99% of the revenue comes through 3 of my sites. Not as ideal as hitting $100 per month on each site, but I will take the steady payout.
The monthly traffic from the 3 sites combining to $100 a month are about 9,000 visits. One of my sites does really well on clicks, and it seems to be that one article I have gets 3,500 of the 4,000 views every month, and most of the clicks come from that.

I was blogging for two years before I reached $10. Since joining the challenge in February, I've almost tripled that. I'm hoping to hit the payout threshold by early next year at the latest.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I've never received a payout and it's been over a year. I hope to be speeding up the process though.

I just took down my 728 banner. It was not getting much in the way of clicks and it's an eyesore. :P Suck on that Google.

Would you be willing to share that article so we could see what apparently is a great example of what to do in terms of content & layout?
If it's a niche site that you don't want to reveal, that's okay, too.

It took us 7 months, but are already at about $60, less than a month in…it's picking up rapidly now. Nearly every month has been better than the one before (except in November, when somebody clicked on my links over and over and over…$25 day…I was afraid I was going to get booted). It appears to have been someone looking for a new bank, because they clicked nearly every banking ad on the site.

Okay, I didn't proofread. It took us 7 months to get to our first $100. Now we're at an additional $60 less than a month later than our first payout.

When I first started blogging it took me about a year to reach $100. I've made the $100 payout every month since May 2008 but it looks like that streak might end this month.

It took me 9 months to get the first $100, and only then because of a link from MSN Money that sent a ton of people to my site (prior to that I think I was up to $11 or something). I'm averaging around $40 a month now, which is fine with me since I rank for really random keywords.

Id rather not say the specific article or site, since there are some haters out there that have tampered with several of the members sites. But I will say that if you look on Money is the Root, the adsense is setup exactly the same on all of my sites as it is on that one, including the individual articles. I use awesome ads plugin to plop ads on every post. I could probably optimize better but I just dont have the time.

It's a shame that people get in the way of sharing value with others, but I understand. I'll admit that I'm surprised that you do so well with just that tiny ad. I didn't even see it the first time.

How long did it take all of you to reach $100 on google adsense? Currently, most of my traffic (55%) comes from search engines, so I figure Ill reach $100 soon, but its been roughly 3 months and I'm only at $16.
I'm on my 8th month of having AdSense and am only up to $39.42. I'm expecting to get my 1st check in February of 2065, we'll see. Sorry I'm not much help, I suck with monetization.

You bring up a good point though… I do need to try some different banner sizes, and really compare text vs image banners, or if the mixed banner works better. Not sure if placing ads at the bottom (in addition to the top) would be add more revenue as well.
