How Many Blogs Do You Own or Manage?

I'm curious about how many of you have multiple blogs. I just added a blog to my professional website (http://elizacross.com and if you have the time I would love any and all feedback) and am wondering if I can truly do a good job of posting to two blogs (not to mention commenting on other blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) while working full time. One of my clients asked me to start writing postings for her blog, too, but that's paid work so I know I can manage that. Smile

I've enjoyed reading some of your time management tips, and I just don't want to dilute my efforts by being spread too thin. I'd love to hear from some of you who post to more than one blog, and how you manage your day to do the necessary marketing to support your efforts on multiple sites.

I've tried and failed.  I'm thinking about trying it again though.

I think it might be easier if your two blogs might be in different area altogether, but I'm guessing…

That's a good point, MR — less topic burnout if you're writing about two different categories.

I actually claimed the domain name, http://creatingapassiveincome.com but haven't been able to do anything with it yet. I'm too busy with the 1 site that I already have!

My plans are to get my main site rolling and then have someone run it for me while I build my second one. Something like that….. but yeah, it's definitely tough.

I currently have 2 sites and my wife has 3. My wife handles the banner/logo designs, and I take care of all of the WordPress/Thesis stuff. It has been hard to find time to build up each site properly, but I think we can do it.

I have three, but don't devote much time to two of them and it shows!  I have to get better at time management. :)

Are they all active?

I own about 20 domains.  Eight or 9 of them are blogs, but 6 are niche sites that aren't actively maintained.  I post every month or two, just to keep new content available.   1 is a badly neglected blog.  Blogging crime and politics makes me angry.   The others are group projects, or otherwise not very time consuming.

I have one actively maintained blog that is used as a blog.

I technically have two blogs but one is just for myself really.  It's about my kids and stuff.  I think my parents are the only readers.  lol.

I could see having two blogs with different topics, especially if they were related but not the same.  Like having a blog about personal finance, and then another one about growing a small business.  or something like that.

Technically I have three.  But The Single Saver is really the only one that is active and is turning into a business.

Besides The Single Saver, I have a niche site I am building (not nearly complete yet) and another site where I track my spending for fun.  The Single Saver is the only site that I commit to having new content updated daily on.

KNS, It's interesting that you and your wife split up the blogging tasks – that's great! Buy Like Buffett, Jason, MoneyCone, Melissa and NarrowBridge — wow! I'm impressed that you can manage all those blogs. The common theme I'm hearing from the polybloggers Wink (do you like that term? I just made it up!) is that many of you have one site you're especially committed to.

Lol!  Like the term Eliza!  I think it is inevitable that you start developing a fondness to one more than the others for various reasons – maybe it makes more money than the others or because you are more passionate about the subject.

The problem is that two of the sites haven't really gotten off the ground yet. My wife has a site for her poetry, and personal blog that she hasn't done much with, and an niche site that we are working on. Then I have my main site, and my weight loss site.

I'm actually looking to create 3 or 4 more niche sites by the end of the year. If I had more time on my hands, I would have put in a bid to buy Broke Professionals!

So when do you eat, sleep and bathe? Just kidding — this is an impressive list, Crystal, especially considering that you put together the weekly Total Money Blog Carnival on top of managing your other sites.

I feel like a slacker! Embarassed

I don't put together the carnival anymore – awesome fellow bloggers run the carnival each week.  I just update the Totally Money site, the Blog Carnival site, my own roundups, and email out the "How to Run the Carnival" letter.  It takes about 30 minutes a week.  I hosted the first 4 weeks and know it takes a minimum of 3 hours to put together a fun-themed carnival…it took me 5 1/2 hours the first week since I had no practice, lol.

I actually spend the majority of my time divided between BFS and the Yakezie.  :-)
