In the last few weeks, I've noticed a drop in traffic which I assume is because people are busy and school is out.  Any one else notice a similar drop in traffic?

I have definitely noticed a dip in my meager amount of traffic. This is my first summer so I'm curious what is normal as well.

Absolutely, but I attribute it to the Google change.

Same here.  I use to have ecommerce website and sales dropping in summer has been very consistent for those 8 years that I ran.  I'm just finding out that that is the case for the blog as well.

This is because of Google's panda and penguin updates that took place on June 1st, since then my traffic was decreased by 40% and i have lost some of my keywords too. This is the reason most of you are seeing decrease in your traffic.

Irfan, this as well (though my traffic is not down; it is more up and down :)). But there is certainly a drop over the Summer and I always know when there is a Bank Holiday in the US or the UK – and if the weather is sunny than we are talking serious proportions.

This year it's likely a combination of the regular seasonal drop as well as Panda/Penguin updates.  Most blogs are dropping in search rankings because we don't make Google as much money as corporate sites.  If you've been able to buck that trend, kudos, but by and large any search results I see contain far fewer blogs for top ranking results, and my inbound search traffic has shown this.

I'll agree with Money Beagle that blogs are lower in search, but I also think it's not all bad. As someone who uses Google a fair amount, I think they're trying to get the slimy sites off the top of the search ranking. I can't stand placing a simple question on Google and can't find the answer because there are 20 garbage sites filling my browser.

Since we are so new our traffic is still increasing as we post new articles. It'll be interesting to see what happens next summer when we are a little more established.

Traffic's been steady here. Which means Average Joe keeps coming over and clicking on 4 or 5 posts to make me feel better and pretend I have more than one reader….

I usually have flat to moderate growth in the summers, but this year nothing is normal. Since getting the new domain, EdwardAntrobus has been growing gangbusters and adding at least 1k of growth each month. Meanwhile, the food blog has fallen on it's face and has lost 40% of it's traffic over the last 5 months.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

Any changes from latest penguin 2.1 update in October 2013?

I haven't seen much movement. Slow summer and picking up slightly now.

Sam

Nothing to get excited about here; my trafic has been keeping steady (steadily but slowly going up).

I also dropped, but I think it has to do with where I am now on google searches. I dropped from page one spot two for a few key words to the bottom of the 1st page or top of the 2nd. My traffic is slowly picking up (I think  – it's really to early to tell).

I also dropped a bit in mid August, but it seems to have picked up a bit and a little higher than it was previously.
