How much time do readers spend on your About Page?

I've always believed that your about page is one of, if not, the most important pages on your blog.

I was really proud of my old about me page but I then decided to redo it for my new site design (see it here).

According to analytics, people are spending on average 1:04 which I assume (and hope) is pretty good.

Curious what you're seeing with your about page?

I think that's a great point Jeff! I believe it can really be used to communicate to the reader who you are and where you're coming from.

Taking a look at my numbers from last month, it looked like readers spent 1:30 on my About page and don't know if that's really "good" or not. I'm actually in the middle of a redesign and looking to highlight my About page more – along the lines of what Pat Flynn spoke about at FinCon. So, we'll see what that does.  Smile

2 minutes.  4th most visited page at Root of Good.  Interestingly, my other content pages on the top 10 most visited list have between 4 and 7 minutes average time on page (per google analytics).  I don't know if that's good, bad, or merely inaccurate.

Interesting point; just checked and it is 1 minute 20 secs (I re-wrote it recently as well but tried to keep it short).

My avg. time on the about page is 2:39. I need to redo the about and start here pages soon. They are so important, but don't get a lot of love. There are just so many things on the to do list.

I need to develop a "start here" page.  I have a fair amount of content but other than categories and an "all-posts" page, there isn't a great way to navigate through all the most important posts.

To add another data point, 1:12 is the time spent on my About page.

Joe, that's fantastic!

I just noticed that you have something on your about page that I told myself I need to have (but totally forgot) – a VIDEO!

And not just an ordinary video, a very cleverly done whiteboard video.  Well done!

Stay tuned, a video will be soon arriving to my about page soon.  ;)

That was another of my essentials when I launched my new site design.  The other was having a Resources page and a legitimate lead magnet to encourage people to sign up for my email list.

So far so good!  :)

On The College Investor, people are spending about 1:12, but on Beat the Nine to Five (where I have a video intro), that jumps to 2:00.

Currently 1:37. I love the idea of an introduction video – certainly something I am going to consider shortly!

Interesting! Readers are on my about page for 1:04. I definitely need to rework this page. Adding a video is a great idea!

My visitors only spend 0:59 on my about page.  I am OK with that because I push them to my Start Here page, where they spend 1:40.  That is the page where I want them to be, not really the about page.

My "About" page average is 1:27 seconds. I just finished watching Joe's video from Retire by 40 and I think that is an amazing idea. That is now on my To-Do list!

Great topic. My avg. time on the about page is 0:39. I really need to add some more information here. The video is a great idea.

According to my Analytics, not a single person has visited my About page in the 3+ years I've had my food blog.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon
