I got an email from a guy wanting to pay me to write a few articles. I've asked for more information, but I have no idea what kind of payment I should ask for if this is something I choose to do.

What do you guys think I should charge? I need some insight!

$25 to start out.  Go from there and feel it out.  It's always negotiable!

You have to write them yourself? If so (and this is one of the first advertisers for your site), I'd start out at $50.

Are the articles for your site, or his?

Does he want his business links in the article if on your site?

Will he permit links to your site in the article if its on his site?

How long does he want the articles?

Will you own the articles or will he?

Important questions to ask.

If you get some recognition for writing the article, $20 should do it.

Wow, a lot of varied amounts. Interesting!

I haven't emailed the guy back yet, but his second email was basically asking me to write positive reviews (on my site) of two UK-based websites dealing with attorneys and injury claims. There's no way I'm recommending services I haven't used myself, plus the sites have nothing to do with what I write about, so it really doesn't matter at this point.

Still, I need to think about what I will charge for my time if these kinds of offers are going to come along every now and then.

I get $80-$275 (Moz 5.05, PR3) depending on how many links are in the post and how long they stay live.  I started at $40-$60.

I don't do reviews of products in general but have been paid to review two sites and got $40 and $100.  Good luck!

I got an email the other day offering up $60 on the spot for a 12 month link in a new post.  I didn't really bother too much with him, but from that I can pretty much gather that Yakezie has done a pretty good job of shaking people down for money.

That's a lot of cash considering I've only a Mozrank of 3.92, PA (Page authority?) of 47, and DA (Domain authority?) of 37.  Not really that familiar with mozrank.

Shoot high!

Update: The guy emailed back and asked if I would write a general post about accident/injury claims, 400 words on my site, with two links. This was after I explained that I wouldn't feel comfortable reviewing a service I haven't used.

I'm still not in love with the idea, but that's a little more acceptable to me than what he was asking at first. So I quoted him $65. If he's interested enough to pay up, I'll post it. :)

I range from $135-$215(PR3, mR4.69), depending on who's writing the article, how many links are in it, and how long the links last.

I think $150 is a good base price.

If I were in your situation, I would probably ask for $75 with 1 link and $100 with 2 for one year.
