I realised only today that my blog was pretty horrible when viewed on a mobile device. You had to constantly zoom and scroll in order to see anything. I know that people on the internet are generally not patient people, and so I was losing some audience. Looking at my Google Analytics it shows that 20% of my visitors are on mobile devices. This figure will probably rise over the next few years. So I decided I'd better do something about it.
I'm no expert on these sorts of things, but I managed to find a solution that was not free but also took less than 10 minutes to set up. There may be better solutions than this, but so far it seems good. I simply downloaded and installed the free plugging Mobile Press and activated it. That was it. Thought I would share this with you you all in case any of you have not yet optimised for mobile. Hopefully it will see me getting more page views and interactions from mobile users.
If you have any other solutions for this, I would be grateful if you could share them in the comments of my post

I've been meaning to look into MobilePress. Right now, I use WP Touch for my food blog. The major complaint that people have for that, and I would agree, it it tends to be rather basic. One thing that I've seen recommended and am slowly working on implementing is also serving mobile-optimized images to mobile visitors. This post explains how to do that: Delivering a Much Better experience to your iPhone clients
For my PF blog, I simply use a responsive theme. The theme detects whether the viewer is on a mobile device or not and rearranges itself based on that.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I've tried a couple of plugins that didn't work well. I'm going to try this one out. I really want my blog accessible from anywhere, especially given the recent stats I've seen about mobile use and the web.

Thanks for that Edward, will take a look at the post. If you don't mind Joe, could you come back here and let us all know how the plugging went for you? Cheers!

I actually just installed WP Touch for my site. It is definitely very basic, but I think that is an advantage. My site tends to be more text heavy, so I don't have a lot of need for images or the like. I'm a fan of this minimal approach because I think it looks professional, is easy to read, and hopefully will bring people back in the future.

I'm using the default twenty twelve theme which is reactive, so it changes to fit the device you are on. Debating switching though to a different theme, because there are definitely some limitations I don't like especially with banner sizes. Anything bigger then like 300 pixels will break the reactive site when viewed on mobile.
