At this moment my site is not optimized for mobiles. If you visit the site from a mobile you get the same as on a computer. That is not friendly for the mobile visitor of course.
Have you optimized your site both for mobiles and computers and how have you done it?
Some additional related issues that come to mind: Do you use cache functions to ensure fast loading without problems like that mobile users get the cached normal page and vice versa? Do you need to publish new content just once or twice: once for computers and once for mobiles? Do the search engines see any duplicated content on your site or how have you avoided that? What others problems did you experience?
Have you tried any external services like mobify.com or others? What is your experience with those?
More and more people visit sites from mobiles. I really would like to serve the mobile visitor the content in the best possible way, not just via an app. It is too important to neglect I think. Please share how you address this.

If you are using Wordpress as your blogging platform, you can install the WP-Touch plugin, that will show a mobile version of your blog, if its accessed from a mobile device.
Hope this helps.

My site is based on Drupal, thus I cannot use this plugin but would like to know more.
Is this WP plugin all you need to create a mobile version of your WP site for mobile users? No problems with cache, duplicated content etc.?
Do you have any examples of sites that use this plugin so that I can visit them and see how it looks?

The plugin is very easy to use. It doesn't create a whole new website for mobile. It just modifies the theme of the site on the fly when visited on a mobile phone.
You can see it in action on my Everything Finance website.

My site also uses WP Touch. I recently upgraded to the pro version so it will render on tablets as well; I was getting feedback that my posts were cut off in Safari for iPad. It was easy to set up and I've been very pleased with it so far.

I am lucky to have found a minimalist WP theme for my site. I didn't even know it when I chose it, but it has an automatic mobile format, so it displays a different layout on mobile devices and tablets.
You can also Screenfly (free; no signup or downloads) to see how your site looks on different monitor sizes and devices.

I have not optimized my sites for mobiles, although I probably should at least for BlackBerry. However as an iPhone user I will say that I hate sites that serve me a mobile version. The standard version looks and works just fine on my phone, and the mobile versions are often ugly and some make it hard to comment. I especially hate WPTouch, which is commonly used, because no matter how many times I tell it not to show me the mobile version, it reverts back to that by default.

Thanks for this feedback Jackie. Thus on an iPhone (and in my own experience definitely also on an iPad), you prefer the normal version and not the mobile one. I am working on a solution now where I can set per type of device which theme/look the user is going to get. I will test the normal version for iPhone.

I beg to defer Jackie,
I don't think anybody even try to comment from an iPhone. On computer browsers we get autofills and that helps in commenting, I don't even try to type in name, email and site address from iPhone.
If there's a way to make safari on iphone remember those details I can start commenting. WPTouch otherwise, makes it very very easy to read a blog post. The main drawback I see with wptouch though is, no chance of adsense earning.
if you don't have adsense on your blog, WPTouch is the way to go. It's the majority choice thats why major site have mobile versions.
As individual choices vary, and WPTouch should allow option to see non mobile version as well. But remember, its free.

Well, I comment all the time from my iPhone. I do a lot of blog reading from my iPhone instead of my computer, because I use that as something to do while I have a couple of minutes available because I'm waiting in line or whatever. Autofills work on the iPhone too.
Of course I go to Yakezie sites on my browser at home because it has Alexa, and I comment on the team ones from there, but I don't have surfing time at home or work really…and that leaves my phone.
I'm currently looking for mobile theme options that allow you to specify whether or not the theme is shown by default by device, and that don't force you to keep it on or constantly scroll down every single time you visit to turn it off. I'll post back when I find something…

Thanks for sharing this plugin. I'm getting about 15% of site visits from Mobile sources now, which might be similar to what many of you are experiencing. Clearly, it's important to consider this!

After a lot of trial and error I have found a good SEO and user-friendly way to make my Drupal sites mobile.
Thus if you do not use Wordpress but you use Drupal as CMS, here is the tutorial that can help you or your web master:
http://www.drupalinternetbusin…..ain-access
(I wrote the tutorial and tested it out on the site where it is published; it is rather technical, but maybe someone here can use it. Next step for me is to implement it for Stock Trend Investing.)
Thanks everyone above for sharing their views on the "mobile site" topic.
