Woo hoo! I think my URL move is pretty much complete.
Except for Alexa which is hovering somewhere around 207k, I have all of my previous rankings and metrics that used to be attached to my old URL!
I'm pretty excited Can you tell?

Congrats. Hopefully when PR updates, it moves over just as fast.

That is pretty sweet! It didn't seem to take that long either.

Just a question. When you transfer domains, does your seo work (pagerank, etc) go with you to your new domain?

Usually not. You kind of have to start over.

My PR actually moved over faster! I'm hoping for a bump up to 3 at the next update

I used to be very focused on making all of my posts cater specifically to Google but I've become more comfortable in just writing and tweaking after. I do have to admit that one of the posts that I actually did keyword research for is still a top search hit. So I would say each post takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to write, SEO and link internally.

Im my case it did. You need to submit a change of address with Google and they will transfer your PR over, but the links do not transfer. So I spent the first month working on changing old links that I had access to and asking fellow bloggers to update. I also did a lot of work backlinking through comments, guest posts and such. Alexa starts fresh but apparently moz and PR move with the new URL. I do have to make sure I keep up the effort for the next PR update though so I don't lose anything.

You really made switching URLs look easy! Maybe you should think about adding this to your SEO service (if your client has a horrible URL)!
