Hey all… thanks for allowing me to be a part of this network.
I just started and already joined a summer group… but I'm wondering, now what, where? I'm already enjoying looking at various people's blogs and commenting… there are some excellent people here with some great ideas.
But now what… where do you recommend I start, doing what, etc.?
Thanks!

I suggest you build up your connections with other Yakezie members. That certainly will bring in a lot of traffic for your blog. Follow their RSS, and comment on their blogs. If you're looking for making money off your blog, then build a high pr, because advertisers mostly care about pr. You can build a high pr by guest blogging on other Yakezie blogs, which coincidentally, also brings in a lot of traffic. If you're new to blogging, then prepare to take a long time to build a successful blog. I built mine real fast, but only because I had already been in the blogosphere for already 1 year. Don't quit when the going gets tough.

Thanks so much for the ideas… I'm assuming "pr" is public recognition? Also, I took a few moments to look through your site… I love the ideas. I'll be sure to visit again and offer what I can to your community.

PR actually stands for Pagerank. It's your search engine authority in the eyes of Google. An important yet fickle rank. Another ranking to look at is your mozrank. These are numbers that probably wont update for quite some time, like months down the road. It took me 4 months of blogging prior to establishing a pagerank. You will get there, you just need to consistently stick with your blogging routine.
I would say that in the beginning you need to do a lot of commenting on Yakezie blogs. We will hit up your blog in return and your Alexa ranking will drop quickly. From there, keep building content and your search engine hits will continue to grow. Lastly, visit these forums to interact and network, look for tips etc. I went from a couple of hits a day to building a relatively successful blog in the past 6 months just by networking with all of my fellow Yakezie.

Hi Doctor Stock. PR stands for PageRank. It's Google's way to measure how important your site is – and it's actually pretty tough to get. It will happen, but it will take some time since they don't update it very often.
Now that you joined (by the way, welcome!!), you'll want to do what Tony suggested, but you should also consistently post on your site at least 2-3 time a week, and also include a few other network bloggers in your "Round-Up" post about one day a week. Check out my site and you'll see what I mean.
Really, just hang out here in the forum and ask some questions. You'll learn a lot. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me directly!

Thanks so much… as you can tell by my lack of "pr" knowledge, I'm a complete newbie! So, I really appreciate your ideas/comments. I'm bookmarking every Yakezie person I interact with to visit them and help too! I'll keep plugging away… did you see anything on my site you liked/disliked? I'm always open to suggestions.

Thanks… I'll go check out your site now… and add it to my list. Thanks! I really appreciate the offer to email directly… you don't know what that means to a complete newbie who is fairly embarrassed to ask such stupid questions on here as "what is pr?" only to find out it is page rank!!

Thanks… actually, if it wasn't for this network, I wouldn't know they existed. I've already enjoyed visiting their sites this morning and look forward tonight to visiting again.
Cheers!

Actually Everything Finance… I was reading a question you had about the summer fair? Did you ever figure out how that works, etc.? I didn't see anyone reply to your question on that forum.
Thanks,

Basically you should be visiting the websites/blogs in your group everyday. Since you have the Alexa toolbar installed, that will benefit those blogs improve their Alexa ranking and since they will visit you, you will see your rankings improve as well.
You should selflessly comment on their posts, promote their work on Twitter, Facebook etc.
I have already seen my Alexa ranking improve.

I can tell you that these guys and gals are great (really everyone I've "met" in the PF circles has been). You will feel right at home, and not like some clique in high school. My only regret was not joining sooner.

Great, thanks Eric. I could really use some help in redesigning my site… I'm wondering if anyone out there would recommend someone to assist? I'm not able to pay hundreds… so I'm not sure what I can do.

I recommend that you participate in the next blog swap. I really enjoy doing those.
Also don't be afraid to start your own initiatives. The whole reason we have summer groups is because the Single Saver took a suggestion and fleshed it out into action.
You get out just as much as you put in so stay involved in the forums and such.
You can also improve your page rank and moz rank by linking internally to your previous posts. This gives the bots more to crawl and helps distribute your domain's ranking to your inner pages.

You're getting some good feed back here, so I'll just add my 'welcome'. You'll find this a great group to be a part of.

Excellent… thanks so much. I didn't realize the whole "bots" thing… and I realize you're not referring to some computer virus. Wow, I'm such a newbie.
What's a blog swap?

Welcome…just be consistent and take it slow.
Most blogs die within 6 months, that is the reason there is at least a 6 month waiting period to become a member, don't burn out!

Thanks for the welcome and advice. I've been "blogging" for over a year… but just decided it was time for just me, my dog, and my extended family to read what I've been writing. I'd decided to make it a passion, not merely a hobby. Feel free to take a look and tell me what you think…. I'm always looking for ideas.
Cheers.
