My rant: Technorati is irksome. My ranking changes like the wind. I went from over 500 finance authority to 92 today…
I was hovering between page 1 and 2 in Finance, and now I'm down to page 27…
But what's more frustrating, is that next week it will be back…
Oh well!

Yes, it is different day to day. I am slowly climbing (knock on wood). I would love to get on the first page. *fingers crossed*

Once I was rated ahead of simple dollar…such nonsense.
Robert, actually the days of wild swings bring a few visitors as you are listed on biggest movers section on their front (finance blog) page. So you should be happy with wild swings every day.

I haven't looked at my Technorati ranking in months…and this is why!

That's a good point. I just need a big move back up!

Technorati has been the worst service as far as consistency of any that I've used since I've been blogging.

For the longest time I was #1 or #2 in Finance (and that came from out of nowhere). Then I dropped by a lot and now I'm back in the top 5.
It can bring some traffic but I wouldn't put a lot into their ratings. It fluctuates a lot.
I like to think I put out quality content and all, but I'm ahead of Consumerist and Get Rich Slowly right now.
It is a nice tool to see who is linking to you though. I don't always get the trackbacks.

I do get several visitors a day when I'm on Page 1. I do like you can see the links as well. Trackbacks are iffy on my site as well.

Does anyone know how technorati calculates the rank? Even though the rankings are meaningless, I was ranked ahead of wisebread at one point, I would like to understand what goes into the rank.

I finally got Technorati working for my site… I had to delete my claim and resubmit it. How frustrating…

Back when I was having problems, I think that this didn't even work for me. I had to whine about it on Twitter before they finally took notice and helped.
