On either Friday or Saturday my new site, Fat Guy, Skinny Wallet broke the 200k mark in Alexa! It took approximately 29 days since I joined the Yakezie Challenge to hit this mark! I know that it only happened because of support from all of you!
Of course, since my ranking was about 438k when I started, I decided to make <100k my official goal anyway. But I am still happy about the progress. Please take a few minutes to visit the site – I have made a commitment to write about my weight loss progress every day (except Sundays), and to more openly incorporate my battle against debt!
Oh, be sure to connect with me on Facebook and Twitter as well (links in the signature)!
Thanks!

@ Money is the Root – I think that the largest single boost that I received was hosting the Totally Money Blog Carnival a few weeks ago. Besides that, there have been some very supportive Yakezie members that visited the site often!
Here is what I can suggest in general:
1) Do a weekly roundup of your favorite posts from the Yakezie network
2) Support others on the various social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Tip'd, Reddit, etc)
3) Be sure to leave meaningful comments which add to the discussion on other sites
4) Don't be afraid to ask for support if you have a particular article that needs promotion, or a goal that you are trying to reach
5) Post often – especially articles that ask for reader feedback or start discussions in other ways
6) Make sure you have the Alexa Toolbar installed on all of your browsers on all of your computers – I actually had the Alexa rank down to about 438k before I "went live" with the site! That was just from my wife and I visiting the site every day!
I'm sure that other people have great tips as well, but that is what I can think of for right now.

Thanks Amanda and Aloysa! I appreciate all of the support.
I just hope I can hit my two 100 goals (100lbs and $100,000 in debt) soon enough, before people get tired of reading about it!

KNS, good job! I just checked out your site and it is very good!
Money is the Root – don't get overwhelmed. I started on 2/18 with an Alexa ranking of 4,850,710. Today (3/8 – just 18 days later) I am at 599,603. I am dropping some every day and that is a rewarding feeling. I would love to hit 200,000 by 3/15 and at the rate I am going I think that is a realistic goal. We'll see!
Here are some easy things you can do to improve yoour ranking (in addition to what KNS has already said):
1.) Add content often – if not daily, at least a few times per week. If the site doesn't have new content, people won't come back as often.
2.) Guest blog on other sites, or allow people to guest blog on your site. Guest blogging is a great way to share viewers and expose your viewers to new blogs.
3.) Don't be afraid to ask questions here. I felt a little self-conscious at first because, elt's face it, there are some really good bloggers who are active in this forum. But I need not have worried. Everyone has been very helpful and I have learned a lot already. I consider myself web savy, but blogging is a whole other beast and there is lots to learn frome ach other.

It is definintely easier to drop from the millions to the hundreds of thousands than get over that last hurdle. The sites are more competitive in the lower ranks.

Congrats Khaleef. Keep up the good work on your site and your money/weight goals. I've enjoyed getting to read you regularly on two different sites (as well as all your other regular gigs).

1) congratulations to you ! wow
2) what a great initiative to instill discipline, hold yourself accountable to your words and commitments publicly. awesome
3) because your blogs are tearing up alexa, has this resulted in any quantifiable / tangible result (i.e. vendors contacting you interested in advertising on your site, etc?)
4) all the best – and please reach out if i can do anything to help

Thanks Sunil! Being accountable to everyone (even though no one reads my blog right now) has definitely helped me with discipline!
Over the last week, I received a lot of emails, but I have to take time to sort through them to see if any of them are meaningful.
I definitely plan to take you up on your offer!
