Who has a keyword list that they are actively trying to get better ranked for? If so, how many words do you have on that list. If not, why don't you?

I have 10, BUT I am actively working on 3 of those.  I have been having a grand old time with Market Samurai and trying to figure out which ones are conquerable.

I focus on keywords for my niche sites. For my blog, I just try to write fun and interesting content to try and "wow" my readers.

I hate sound like a complete newbie here, but what would one do to become better ranked for specific keyword?

I'm actively tracking about 20 keywords right now.  About half of them are on first page.  I use SEOMOZ to track keywords and do keyword analysis (they have a 30 day free trial too).  I've heard about Market Samurai, never tried it.  Would love to hear some feedback on it.

Basically when you have links coming into your site, whatever words are within the link will be associated with your blog. You can also help by linking the keywords you want in your own articles to other pages on your own blog.

I think I'm tracking like 20 + keywords.  I say "I think" as I'm horrible at keeping a log of them.   Organization is not a strong virtue of mine.  Laugh

Raven Tools has been my weapon of choice for tracking.   I was able to get in at $20/mo when they still offered single user licenses.  Now they only have a $100/mo subscription.  Frown  Overall, it's really slick and I'm considering keeping it when I'm forced to upgrade later this year.

Oh wow – I have over 4,000 keywords in my database that I'm working on. Obviously, the majority of those I haven't written a post for yet. But I will get to them all eventually.

I never thought much about it, but I am mid-way through the Market Samurai trial and like it so far. Not quite sold yet, but it has big potential.

There is a pretty cool plugin for tracking keywords, SEO Rank Reporter, it's free at the wordpress site.  You enter the keyword and page/post associated to it.  It tracks the google rankings per keyword and updates it every 3 days.  Showing everything in graph form.  Worth taking a look for the SEO folks.

I don't concentrate on keywords much but I do like to see what keywords are bringing people to my blog. Has anyone else noticed that Google Analytics hides your top keyword now?
