I tried one of these competitions a few months ago and I did not care for the results. However I didn't host the contest myself – I used one one of those logo contest websites.

I've seen some really cool logos created via crowdsourcing competitions, but the ones that were submitted to me were even more amateur than the logo I already have. :) I think it's just hit and miss with these.

Good luck to you though – I'm excited to see what your readers come up with.

Thanks Kyle, you are right, it is a bit of a risk move, BUT since my site is so new the risk is really minimal.  I don't have that much to lose…   I like the interaction with readers so I am willing to give this a try.

Thanks Crystal, I was thinking the same way you are.  If it does not work out I will re-do it or hire a friend to do it for me.   Feel free to tell your friends to enter the competition, it could be a quick $75….
