If you recall, I mentioned previously that my wife and I are starting a new blog named Dollars and Roses. My wife's friend designed a logo for us and I would love to hear your thoughts.
I'll refrain from my opinion until I hear from some of you :)

I like it. Its simple. I'm not a big fan of the roses or the color pink or pink roses… but it works here.

Hrm, at first glance, it looked like a logo/header for a florist company. If your blog is about making money online, but a subtle change like making the "D" green will make a huge difference? Give it a shot, IMO I think it'll help.

You could also cut out the the word "DOLLAR" from a any dollar bills or make the font similar to that.

USe the same font for "R" as you do for "D." The Dollars part looks like it's much bigger than the Roses part.

My eyes are immediately drawn to two things.
The first thing I see is the Flower
The next thing I see is the &
This needs to be reworked so the "Dollars" is emphasized as much as the & and the Roses.

I might be the sourpuss on this one, sorry – but you asked for honesty and I shall oblige.
This is my far from professional opinion – just personal taste.
The logo doesn't do anything for me. It is slick and put together very well but I don't get excited seeing it Jeff.
I am not sure if it is the font or the use of charcol grey – but I find the logo quite "meh". It lacks personality perhaps?
The & is too big and I agree I see the rose then the & to the point the rest of the words are muted.
If it were my logo I would want to incorporate some red – people think roses, they think red. I would also take a more rounded font. Less formal.

I think there's a lot going on in the logo, and it makes it a little distracting for me. There's the striped D, the dollar sign S, the rose for the O, the enormous &…

This is all good stuff and I serious appreciate your honesty.
Initially my intent was to have a his/her contrast to the logo. The "Dollars" being more masculine and the "Roses" being more feminine, combing both my wife and I together.
But yes, the pink roses stick out to me and the "&".
<BIG sigh> Why does choosing logos and headers take some much energy and time?

Agreed.

I really like this idea. I'm thinking of using the same font/outline of the word "Dollars" like you would see on the back of any bill.

There's something about the grey that I don't like either. Wasn't sure if it was that or the font. Totally agree with you.
Okay, at least I have a start and some good suggestions to go after.
Thanks everybody!!

We spent about 2 months changing our banner. It could likely still be improved in many ways – the decision is never easy. You are promoting a brand with your header and making a change from where you are comfortable is not easy.

I just had a look. Sorry, I did find the logo very frilly and fussy – in a word distracting. In my opinion it needs simplifying – the & should be simpler; not sure about the pink of the flower.
Sorry, Jeff – but trying to help.

I second this. Make the "&" smaller. It doesn't need to be a focal point in your header.

I agree with the others who have said it's distracting, especially the & sign which is way too big. Also we all understand about the Roses, but will you be making clear why that's in the name to readers at a glance too?

I think the apersand is too big and the dollar sign is too small or lost. It seems as though there is an imbalance between the 2 words (dollars/roses). I hope that helps.

I like it…
The only change would be to make the & smaller!

I agree… & is TOO big and gray color is dull… not very catchy. It is well put together but if you want something more memorable, I'd take the general consensus offered here. Branding is very important and yes, time consuming… sigh… I'm still working on mine too… Good luck Jeff!

Not a big fan of it Jeff…way too much going on.
I would choose either the D or the $ in dollar…not both
& is far too big – demanding the most attention
I might try something like this:
DOLLARS
& ROSES
The current logo has a lot to look at.

I think it looks clean and nice. It would go well with a site that has a lot of white space. I would not use it on a site with a lot else going on or you might seem cluttered.
