I don't normally promote any of my posts, but wanted to throw this one out there because I have had about a 1,000 bad experiences in the past two years with hiring contractors of all kinds….I mean, I literally cannot get one right lol. Just a heads up on an article I wrote extolling the virtues of Angies List and a summary of a small amount of the crap I have dealt with lately.

I looked into Angie's List once, but I'm simply not going to use a service that requires you to pay to read reviews.

I'm looking for editors, beta-readers, and some demographic research for my upcoming novel, Once Upon a Saturn Moon. If you like reading soft sci-fi thrillers, maybe with a touch of romance thrown in, you can find more information at http://seampublishing.com/once…..aturn-moon

I saw your comments, and replied to them. I like opposite opinions, it keeps me sharp! And believe me, I had your exact same thought process at one point…but Ive learned my lessons the hard way.

My mom signed up for Angie's list and it wasn't worth the money imo, especially because she's on a budget and doesn't need extra subscription costs like that. But worse than the subscription cost, one of the lawn care vendors she used was simply horrible (didn't show up when scheduled, eventually did work she didn't ask for, caused property damage, and wouldn't revoke the charges, etc) and caused her so much stress. Caused me a lot of stress too because I had to listen to all the problems and try and help her get things sorted out.

Im sorry to hear that! If it was my mom I would be pissed! Did that person have a lot of positive reviews? For something as common as lawn service, there are several dozen in any given local area. I would simply choose the top two or three, which is have 100+ positive and recent reviews in my local area.

Yeah I was PO'd and banging my head on the wall. They did have positive reviews which is the frustrating thing. She's had a lot of issues with lawn companies in her area in general too, maybe it's a local thing due to living in a small area I don't know.
