Most of the sites on Flippa.com are either crap or fake or both.  There are some good sites there but they are really hard to find. I got lucky buying the site I bought.  The person selling it tweeted about it and I was one of the few who responded. There would probably be lots of people responding now.

Wow…selling a site…I have never given that much thought, fascinating.  I wonder what it'd take for me to either buy or sell one!

I've been focused on raining my site up to what I consider a successful level, but once I reach this I am also very interested in purchasing other sites.

My ADD brain will work well having many sites to manage rather than just one. I tend to want to jump around anyway, so I think it would work well for my productivity.

I see a couple people in this thread are looking to collaborate on projects and I think that's awesome!  I would love to do this as well at some point.  I'm out of extra bandwidth in the short term, but may check back here in a month or two to see who's still looking.

That said, for everyone in this thread serious about finding a partner, it may be helpful if people shout out how they would like to contribute within a partnership…..if enough people respond we could even turn this into something more organized like a "Looking for Partners" google doc.

For example, each person could post something like this:

These types of projects interest me:

  • Buying a niche site with 10k visitors per month
  • Creating a niche site from scratch
  • Areas of interest (Personal finance, blogging tips, sports, poker, self-help, etc.)

What I would contribute:

  • Seed money
  • Coordination of business aspects (advertisers, staff writers, domain, hosting, etc)
  • Theme layout and design
  • Technical chops

What I look for in a partner:

  • Main writer
  • keyword research, SEO expertise, experience with CPC
  • Partial monetary contribution (skin in the game)
  • Post promotion and backlinking

Once a couple people post their partnership interests and find matches, I suggest you get on the phone and interview each other.  Finding a partner is kinda like dating, not everyone is a match, so don't feel like you have to marry everyone you talk to.

Very helpful info. Thanks for taking the time to write it out for us.
