Lucking Out on Site Traffic

It's surprising (to this novice) what can drive traffic to Money Counselor. I noticed today that my site experienced about a 5-fold jump in traffic yesterday. Turns out Dr. Phil did a show called Tarnished Tiaras. One of his guests was Mrs. Nevada 2006, around whom I'd written a post last December on continuity billing scams. Looks like a ton of people ended up at my post after searching "mrs nevada 2006" or similar. This is probably obvious to many of you, but as an amateur I found a good lesson here in driving traffic: Spice up serious topics with real life examples of celebrities and people in whom the masses are apt to be interested! And include bathing suit photos! Smile

I just took advantage of this idea with the Steve Nash – Lakers trade. Thanks for the tip!

Would you expect any of this traffic to convert to regular readership?  Short term, great, but long term, sounds like things could return down to normal traffic levels.

No, you're right MB–these would be low-quality, unlikely to return visitors. And yes, Mrs. Nevada provided just a 1-1/2 day blip in Money Counselor's traffic (not that I'm not grateful for even that!).

It's still a good feeling to have an increase in traffic, even if it's not permanent!

Something else I learned when dealing with celebs, sex sells. I did a post on an Israeli model on my Israel blog and it was a huge traffic source.
